Default Jawbone Up - metrosexual lifestyle tracker

I've just spent 33,000 Lufthansa Air miles (£99) on this.

Its a pretty sophisticated device that tracks your movement, sleep etc.. and then communicates it all to an app on your iPhone or Android smartphone. Within the App you can also track your meals (as easy as scanning the barcode) and then it will give you a full summary of your activity, calorie intake etc.. I was initially quite sceptical, but after a full day and night use I'm really getting into this shit.

Looks interesting............. not sure I could wear that round my wrist though. I'd certainly have to take it off when I go back to Yorkshire.

Interested to know how you get on with this after a few weeks.

I love my Garmin Forerunner. I run 15km every Monday/Wed/Friday and 1 weekend a month I do a 21km. On Tue/Thurs/Sat or Sun I then go on the bike and the Forerunner knows which activity I am doing and then syncs with the Ant+ stick auto-magically in my Mac.

I was for the other 'in-between' bits using the Livestrong App and the Sleep Cycle App, but I would rather have it monitored automatically with a device like this..
£99 for something I would use everyday seems like a Bargain! I might even see if they have them in the Airport on Friday but again would prefer to know your thoughts over the coming weeks.

Will do Goldie, let me run it through its paces and then I will update.
In the mean time here is a reasonably good review in the Mail and a video review

p.s. last year there was a version 1 of the band that was a disaster in terms of reliability, I've got the version 2 which seems to have addressed most of the negative reviews you'll find from 2012.

Where were these when the ex-missus was sleeping about, could have palmed it off as a birthday present!!

Not really much cop for a tracking device for yourself... You KNOW where you've been, unless the Alzheimer's is kicking in!?

Er, my phone, loaded with all my Apps is surgically attached to me anyway, not really sure I'll need a rubber bangle as well.

Unfortunately doesn't track your whereabouts... But it should tell you how many strokes she was giving to her rendezvous..

No mate its not got a GPS inbuilt, its more like an advanced ped0meter that can sense when you're sleeping, walking, running, climbing stairs etc.. It uses complex algorithms to work out what is genuine activity and when you're simply having a wank.

Yep they recalled it and started from the ground up.
I have one and had it for a couple of weeks, it certainly makes me aware of how inactive I am on a work day and because of that I am trying to up my steps, parking further away, if I forget something instead of "ahh I'll get it later" I get off my ass and go for it, just little changes.
The sleep tracking was a major part of me getting it and it does seem to track a little better than some of the android apps which do a similar job.
The food tracking I did start but that tapered off, you can also add in workouts manually such as cycling that it wouldn't pick up itself. The more content I am putting in the better it is getting.

Manually plugging to sync isn't a big issue, certainly no chore like some of the reviews made out. Battery life is good I just do it once on the weekend and I'm good for the week then, it would last more than a week but that's just convenience for me.

I wear it on my left wrist with my watch and it's hardly noticeable after a couple of days.

I'm on week 3 and my penis is definitely thicker and fuller due to having it, shame they didn't persist.

No bluetooth sync = no interest.

When they add bluetooth, I'll buy one.

Ive been using one of these for the last 5 months after a promo at the company i work for offered them at half price, used to have a Nike+ Fuel band (which I also got on a half price promo) before this and the Up blows the Fuel Band out of the water for most features, I also use MyFitnessPal to log my daily calorie intake and the 2 sync together which is nice. So my food report from MyFitness goes over to my Up App and my calories burned goes over to the MyFitness app, seamlessly, there are other 3rd party apps that work with the Up band too, plus It works with IFTT.

Where the Nike+ band was only a ped0meter with a watch feature, there was no sleep tracking built in and the app for the Fuel Band quite frankly was crap (it might have gotten better now, but i haven't used it!) The App for the Up is a LOT better, much more detailed information for everything and they are not trying to push some high score points system onto you like the Nike+ Band does. The other issue I had with the Nike+ Band is the same issue I have with the Nike Running app, neither of them sync with my Nike+ trainers or work with them via the app, only the Nike+ app thats built into my iPhone does that, meaning I needed 3 apps on my phone for each piece of gear. The only plus side to the Nike+ band was bluetooth syncing, but to be honest the plugging into the headphone jack is not a bit deal at all!

You don't notice its on your wrist at all really until it starts to vibrate if you have been idle for 40mins or when its waking you up with the smart alarm. Both options can be turned off in the settings of the app.

I would say that I only have one because I got it cheap, wouldn't drop £100 on either if I'm honest (Yes I do realise I have spent £100 in total on both). However the Nike+ Fuel Band 2 rumours do look interesting with Bluetooth 4.0 for constant connectivity, use with 3rd party apps (like the Up) and a heart rate monitor might get me to switch back to Nike.

    Cheers

As soon as you add the Bluetooth etc.. you are going to be charging it more than wearing it. They might as well put two in a box or at least some way of charging whilst wearing or a replaceable battery..
