Really? First rule of all forums are the rules.

...but in answer to your question, Smart TV's are not equipped to deal with the processing power required for XBMC.
XBMC looks basic from the outside, underneath, that is one mega powerful program.

    Welcome to DF.

Agree that a Raspberry Pi (Brand New Tech) being installed into them is the way forward, but the TV industry is behind the IT Industry and will take a while to catch up.

lack of a common OS at the TV end I imagine, and would guess that XMBC has a far higher demand on hardware than the average tv can provide. It would be a fantastic step if it happened though, my tv has an onboard network media streaming interface, but its a pile of shite and ultimately useless next to my revo. If they started shipping tellys with a Pi onboard, then we'd be talking

For more cash there's a "stealth something-or-other" linked on the raspbmc site that is a hdmi dongle running the same chipset as the raspberry pi and with the video codecs included for $59 plus postage (crowd funded for launch) if that will cheer you up?
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

My Samsung ES8000 smart tv is more than adequate for my streaming needs and my Revo now sits unbooted...
