Please help me - SII firmware upgrade and photos lost !

I upgraded the Mrs' SII as to Jellybean as it was crashing and she was advised it was a software issue. After the firmware upgrade the gallery only has one photo in it, that was taken yesterday. All other photos are lost.

She is really upset. I feel bad as I did it.

Thing is, I backed up with Kies (selected 'backup everything') and restored. The phone did not delete the contacts either.

I'm really pissed with myself and with Vodafone as the culprit seems to be the battery that has swelled, and a visit to the Vodafone shop and call to their call centre both recommended a firmware upgrade - fucking retards!

Any help with recovering these photos appreciated !!!

get a file manager app such as es file explorer etc and have a hunt round for them. They can be in all sorts of locations and a firmware upgrade will often start up a 'new' gallery.

If you can't find them on the SD card or internal memory there's a good chance they've gone sadly.

One word of advice. Install Dropbox on future and set it to auto upload pictures which is default. Its free and you get 5 gig !

Or.... Set Up a Google+ account. I believe it already comes preinstalled on android and by adjusting the settings it will back up all the photos you took and videos too. It can also be set to wifi only. Space is unlimited if photos are under a certain resolution, as those taken on a phone camera usually are.

It's another option from the good advice above.
