Question Easy to use: Architect software?

    Hi Guys,

I'm looking to build my own bungalow soon so I am looking for an easy to use Architect program to get my ideas and thoughts down on 'paper' so I do not forget and to give the Architect that will be given the plans to update/change what's needed etc.

I've been watching YouTube videos regarding this area and a lot seem to be using a program called Chief Architect.

    Any other suggestions?

Slightly off topic, but have a look at the latest trend of building house/bungalows from used truck trailers... several welded together..
You can find finished ones online/youtube that look like a normal house in and out when complete but a fraction of the overall cost.

    Just out of interest mate.

If anyone tries to talk you into using AutoCAD, don't listen. The amount of learning needed to do anything useful with that package is ridiculous.

When I was just leaving the CAD trade (only spent a few years in it), I heard quite a few people talking about SketchUp but never actually tried it myself.

I do this for a living, I do use AutoCAD and I do not reconmend as a novice you try and pick it up.

Sketch up is good and very easy and quick, but I am not sure if thats because I am used to such programs.

I'd try good old pen paper and scale ruler to begin with then once you have got some things down, try and convert that into whatever on a program.

I still find it quicker and easier doing scope design on paper first.

What area are you in (UK), do you have land. by all means ask any question here or on PM. If I can help with intial start up i will.

    Thanks to QfanatiQ

I was trying to avoid AutoCAD as I've not used it in over ten years...
