got my edge 510 yesterday and after some dicking about because one sensor wouldn't work (my fault) I'm loving it.

23 mile ride showed 93% battery remaining and that was including using the live track feature via my mobile. The mobile instead of running down to about 30% when using runkeeper was on 75% doing the live uploading.

The statistic junkie in me is adoring the info you get out

Goldberg, Is the 405 waterproof and useable as a regular watch ? I know the battery won't last that long I'm just wondering.

Yeah I often run or cycled in the rain. I doubt you could go swimming in it but you could certainly use it as a regular watch.

It comes with two straps, a rubber one and a Velcro one.

The battery is soldered in place so you cannot just easily swap it. Out of mine I get three 1 hour runs and a couple of hours bike time a week before I need to charge it. With no excessive it seems to lose maybe 1 or 2% battery a day

Thanks mate. Those 405's are quite reasonable now, I presume they're no longer current.

Well I fancy the idea of running although I'm not a natural runner in any shape or form and I have missed wearing a watch so could kill two birds with one stone.

    Default GPS cycle computers

For the bike you need this

Garmin Speed/Cadence Sensor For the Forerunner/Edge
    http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B000BFNOT8

    Auto detects etc

Also the 410 is available which addresses some of the issues the 405 has which are minor.

The range has now been replaced but that only means you get a good deal

Hahaha, everyone has to start somewhere.

I was out this morning for 14km or 1hour, which ever comes sooner. Mondays are always tough as I like to enjoy the weekends with food/drink. But come Fridays I am flying again.

All you need to do is look at some of the 'from feet up to 5k' guides. Al lot are run one minute, walk one minute until you start building yourself up to the 5km.
It get's easier but it never gets easy. You do feel good afterwards though.

5 weeks back into cycling after probably a 8 year lay off.

I was bang on 20 stone when I re-started, now about 19st 3. I'll never ever be thin but I would like to be trimmer than I am.

I tend to just go for it tbh. I think it's too easy to sit back and say "I can't do that" without even trying.

Started doing 10 miles every other day then 12 miles every other day then 16 miles every other day and now I'm doing around 16-20 miles every day.
