It's taking the first step. The rest are relatively easy.

I don't mind the cold and the dark. I ran around the bend on the canal tow path just after 2miles and was presented by a completely still scene with the moon in the distance. Truly breathtaking !

Yes you do see some nice calm things that time of the morning.

I have a few parks/Epping forest close to me. Tomorrows run will incorporate a few of the sights.

same route today and a tad better overall..

slower start as I felt ok getting on the bike until I sat down, wow that stung a bit and I never felt it until I got on the bike, so took some shifting around to find the "sweet spot" lol.

shorts are this weekends must get.

Well done mate. Keep going, you'll soon improve. Padded shorts are a must tho !

I've just done 20 miles. Similar theme to the other days I've also ran on, hard to get going but a strong finish.

Lots of lactic acid in my legs today. Anyone got any tips ?

You do need to give yourself rest days, I know it is tough once you are in the groove but you will benefit from it.
I mentioned the supplements I take in an earlier post, maybe try knocking a couple of ibuprofen back pre run which is something I do.

I'm not keen on missing any days on the bike but bike+run is taking it out on my poor thighs.

I can still get out there and do it, it just burns more.

I was reading in a cycling mag about a foam roller you use to massage any aching muscle groups. I wonder if that might help.

As for ibuprofen, I've had 4 today lol

    Default GPS cycle computers

This mornings 14km run turned into 17km as I mis judged the change of route.

Still got some of those 4:30+ on there which I am not happy about!

2 bike days now and a similar distance run on Sunday

I feel pretty good this morning legs wise. I gave them a vigorous rub down last night with some deep freeze cooling gel and it's definitely helped.

I am already looking forward to this afternoon's bike and tomorrow morning's run but I am considering having a rest weekend. Bet it doesn't happen though.

You should have one day off one of the activities at the weekend.
It is tough though. Even though I have the weekend off sometimes, I get worried that on Monday I won't be able to do it!

Never happens, your body appreciates it and your fine.

I've pushed my self in the last two runs which is why I am not running until Sunday now but will be on the bike the next 2 days.

Also, cool gel good on evening after workout, deep heat good before workout.

I don't run or plan on running at the weekend but I think I'd find it difficult not to bike. I must be getting fitter though, I find it much harder to get my heart rate up and keep it there. Before I used to push hard and get 160-170, now I'm getting the same speeds but seeing 140-150 hr.

I'm a bit wary of pushing hard again up to 165+ as I don't want to get caught in the trap of chasing personal best times and averages constantly. It's no fun then.

    another improvement today, wow.

used the "challenge me" mode today, it wont get used again for a long time, make sure your a fit person before you enable this mode.

I am just going to keep doing this route now till the end of next week, it really does get easier every day so I am not going to push my luck.

This morning's 5k felt great. Modified my run slightly as I want to be doing almost exactly 5k but shortened the second bit a touch too much and ended up running back up the road to finalise the distance.

Easily the best I've felt off the bike, 5k was bang on 34 mins and I kept my heart rate bang in the zone I like it, so that I'm working all the time but can maintain it.

    Very happy,

Did another 35 mins on the bike this morning to burn off pastry Friday in the office. I have a clip for the handle bars so I can use the iPhone whilst on the trainer and tend to pass the time with You Tube vids etc...

I read somewhere that having a banana straight after exercise helps eliminate lactic acid buildup and speak as I find, 2 days in it definitely seems to be helping.

I recommend the Creatine tablets too http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pag...did=248&cid=93

3 before and 3 after. I only use them when running and not on the bike.
