Hope she gets to full strength soon pal. No doubt the running about is keeping you fit! Brother in law in the same boat as you, was his first day back at work today and they had to call the in laws in to help.

Well the fact that my doc has signed me off until the end of December might give you some indication how bad the missus is

Thoughts are with you all pal. Seen family and friends go through hell over the years but even though it seems like a lifetime it does turn out ok in the end.

Got this all to come myself in 7 weeks. I'm stressed to my eyeballs as it is.

Clearly this conversation will not be communicated to the wife.

Take it easy pal. I don't want to say it just for saying it, but if there is ever anything we could do then simply ask.

I have been toying with the idea of making a thread about it but the advice I would give is don't let them railroad you into any decision.

All the way through they gave us lots of situations where according to their advice there was only one course of action even though this was not the case.

They refused to even acknowledge my belief that their monitoring probe was faulty.
Cutting a very long story very short - they could not get a reliable signal for the baby's heartbeat whilst Anne was in labour.

They attached probe after probe, machine after machine and left one single item unchanged (a simple wire) because "it never goes wrong".

Test after test later and putting Anne and our baby through several uncomfortable, stressful, dangerous and ultimately unnecessary procedures they decided the only possible course of action was an emergency cesarean.

Anne became severely infected because of this and it resulted in further surgery being required to remove all the dead tissue.

It transpired eventually that the wire I had suggested they change on three occasions to two people was the culprit and the baby had never been at risk.

As it stands currently, Anne is in constant pain, has a machine attached which is vacuuming the wound closed which is an open wound, 12" x 3" and looks like someone has hit her with a machete.

I don't mean to scare you but do NOT let them force you into anything, always ask about alternatives and above all if something doesn't look right then it probably isn't.

If we can stop anyone going through what we are then we will. It's truly awful.

Baby Mia is absolutely worth it but it will be a minimum of 8 painful weeks before Anne can hold her for more than a few moments and knowing that didn't have to be the case is heartbreaking.

Wow, that is tough!
I might have mentioned about the sister in law who gave birth to a still born at full term last year. All went wrong, had to do a C section and she nearly died!

That is the short version clearly. She gave birth, C section the same week as your little one to a healthy boy so all is well that ends well. Both stories need to be told but I think speaking offline and sharing the facts before public consumption is best.

I have voiced my displeasure about the mother in law this last year and the situation as a result l, but never the actual event. Having to wait in a room wondering if we had lost two people, her not knowing what had happened for a couple of weeks after.. It took a while.

But as said, not something I want to discuss in detail in here and it is why I am worries with only 7 weeks to go.

What is important in your case however is that you focus on your family right now. It is the most important thing ever to you.

Absolutely.family is everything. More now than ever. I am absolutely in love with baby Mia and she is worth every little bit of stress. We were worried throughout because Anne had a still birth herself. Horrible horrible thing to happen to anyone.

This morning at 5:30 it was not only pitch black but thick dense fog!

I did the Park Route and seriously, I was running blind for the last 2km! Hence the times over 4:30 for those 2 km. I know the route thankfully but it is not flat and I won't be doing it again!

Heart rate frighteningly high at the start, I think that's because there was no air to breath!

Is there any app for android for cycling measurement GPS and is there anything that tracks the climbs and falls as well as distance, speed average etc ect.

Probably plenty out there mate. When I started I used MiCoach (Adidas) but to be honest you will quickly learn that relying on phone GPS can be bad when under trees etc...

And don't apologise... It was a genuine reply on topic.

Runkeeper is excellent for cycling. I used it for a while before deciding to upgrade to a dedicated unit.
and it's genuinely bang on topic, the more people out doing something the better and the logging of it etc has really spurred me on to do more and varied activities.

Managed to get the garage sorted out a bit so I could get access to the treadmill again. I can't go very far from the missus so the treadmill is my only option.

Dug out my old Forerunner 60 as it's calibrated with my footpod, so this should be pretty accurate, distance wise and I did my usual 5km.

It took me ages to get the treadmill up to a comfortable pace as the readout on it is all but useless, hence the weird spikes and the slow first mile. It will be better next time.

Really pleased with the time since it's the first run for ages.

Got a vistor with us during the week for the next few weeks so I am having to curb my Bike for a bit as it is noisy.

Not sure if to increase how many runs I do, for example Mon/Wed/Fri do 15km and Tue/Thu do a quick 5km ...
Feel dirty for not going on the bike this morning!

Did 15km run Monday, 10km bike Tuesday, 15km run Wednesday, today was a day off (will replace it at the weekend) and tomorrow will be a 17km before work making the missed bike session up on Saturday.

Goldberg : I think I'm going to look for a turbo trainer, so I can get some saddle time, otherwise it's only going to be once a week for the next month or two.

Any recommendations, since I know you have one ?

It's ok and still going strong but I'm considering getting a flywheel bike now. You will need a turbo trainer tyre otherwise you will split the one that's on it.
