Just started using mapmywalk to log my walking/ cycling. Useful to keep tabs on how much mileage you do as it soon mounts up more than you'd think! Managed 4.5 miles today on my bike, which is the most I've done in one 'session' this year, but I do couple of miles at least most days.

Once summer hits, I'll be out hell of a lot more both walking and cycling to my fishing places or just for the hell of it. Be interesting to see the mileage mount up through the year.

    Thanks to burner1

16km this morning to run off the shed load of shite I consumed this weekend.

Also yesterday I went on the Turbo Trainer for the first time in a long time. That was tough!!! I do not believe I only burnt off 323 calories!

For the first time in what feels like ages I have managed a ride during the week !

Mia started doing mornings at nursery today so it meant I could sleep much earlier and instead of waking around 5pm, I got up at 12. This meant I suddenly had some free time so got out for a ride (of course).

Set out and it was windy, not windy like the other day but still enough to take it out of you. I was completely undecided on what distance to do so just sat on the bike and rode. I headed roughly south as I usually do and it seemed to take an age to get any proper distance on the board. Around 8 miles and it felt like 20 !

Still, I kept plodding on and decided to try for 20 so added bits on here and there.

At about 19 miles I headed towards a busy roundabout which meant I had to come to a stop. I was on my way home and it would have been another mile or so, however a bloke on a shiny Giant bike came from no where behind me and sped off into the distance. I had to catch him !

I was up to 24mph chasing after him and gaining really slowly, but he turned away from where I wanted to go and I followed. I had just about caught him by the next turning towards home so waved goodbye, happy with my effort.

I was even happier when I looked down at the garmin to see an 18.6 average.

Even though it was roughly half the distance of my Saturday ride, I am very happy to be back in the 18's and the higher 18's at that.

I honestly think I have had 30 mins sleep at the most because of the 5 month old bundle of joy..

Still a decent time for 15km, the last 3km were slow but I am putting that down to the bright sun in my eyes rather than tiredness! At that time in the morning it is low and you seriously cannot see a thing when it is in your face.

Have to be careful with my right knee. Hurt it running on Monday, seemed ok this morning but giving me trouble now. Think I know how I did it so it is a case of nursing it.

I'm sure there's a website of strava art, I've seen it mentioned on one of the forums. Someone drew "Will you marry me ?" or something similar too.

EDIT, google image search throws up a few good ones.

I had managed a huge 1.5 hours sleep today as I was woken up by a phone call. Nevertheless I managed to drag myself out on the bike as I had told myself off for not going out yesterday when I had the chance.

Right from the off it felt really good today. Very strong and I pushed on and decided to go for a fast but short ride.

After my initial 6 mile loop my average was showing 18.7 and I knew I was in for a good ride.

I carried on and calculated my route in my head to end up back at home at 20 miles give or take and then really went for it.

Everything went well. That's an understatement actually, everything went great.

I present to you my first ever 19mph+ ride. 19.3 to be exact, and only 2 minutes off doing 20 miles in an hour. Very proud.

Had a couple of hours spare after I got up from last night's night shift so did 37 miles.

Felt ok but a bit lethargic as I set out so took it fairly easy for a few miles. Built up pace throughout the ride though and was flying towards the end. Had to push hard for the last 6 miles to get it to 18mph average but just about managed it.

Bit of a maintenance ride today to get rid of last night's beer and dodgy kebab.

Only 22 miles but managed a pretty decent pace since I still felt a bit stiff and a bit dehydrated

I've just come through three days of a stomach bug and nasty cramps and I thought I was over it but six miles into this nineteen mile ride I got the tell tale pain back. The rest of the ride wasn't much slower than normal but felt quite uncomfortable. Still, I'm very happy to have got a ride in midweek again.

For some reason I thought it would be good to run 21km home tonight after work!

Tough going because of rush hour people and traffic. Also my knee is funked, yet I did it in one of my better post 1:30 times.

Still fighting a stomach bug with frequent dashes to the toilet and cramps in my lower belly but couldn't go the whole weekend without a ride so forced myself out today.

Had my route planned in my head, 25ish miles and not too challenging in my current fragile state but I got to King's Stanley and the road was closed. I didn't want to turn around so carried on a few miles further towards Stroud (for the first time) thinking I would find another road. Turned right and had Selsey hill sprung upon me.

It was exactly not what I needed, puffed and ground my way to the top and hit a heart rate of 190ish when I thought my max was 185!

All good once I had done it and the rest of the ride seemed easy. It did mean however that my average took a battering and I struggled to top 17mph.

Got to the end of the ride having covered almost exactly 30 miles and very happy that I'd gone out, even if I did have that little surprise on 9 miles !

    two rides to report.

First one was with a workmate who is just getting back into cycling after 7 months out.

He does 14-15 average on his own, I dragged him around at 17 but had to wait for him at the top of any hills, hence the strange pauses here and there.

Second ride was today and I've just about got over my cold. Hard going for the first 10 miles or so but got into it quite well after that and ended up doing quite well.

I do seem to have lost my way with my distances, I wanted to be doing regular 40's and the occasional 50 by now but I just don't have the time at the moment.
