Help Bosch 2-28 DV SDS+ Hammer Drill. Help finding information

Bosch 2-28 DV SDS+ Hammer Drill. Help finding information

Ok, I have one of these.

I want to make sure I am fitting the SDS+ bit correctly.

The manual is all well and good, but pictures only. I have been on youtube and just found videos showing it off but not changing and how to change bits!

When I fit a drillbit, I get it to a point where you cannot PULL it out BUT it moves about 10mm back and fourth. Is this down to the hammer action?

I was using rotary only and still had this movement. Worried I am not fitting things correctly.

I would really appreciate a video link if possible, perhaps to a similar Bosch SDS+ drill

    Cheers.....Q

Mate if the bit is clicked into the Chuck of the drill and can't be pulled out its in properly.

The best way to find out is to just use it.

Also the shaft of the SDS bit usually has indentations that keep it installed in place in the Chuck but you will still have a bit of movement up and down.

    Cheers guys.

I did use it, only four quick holes. Never the less, I was concerned after spending so much money I might be wrecking the drill. I saved hard for that piece. I felt the up and down movement appeared to be quite a lot.

When using, the action seemed fine and solid

Make sure to always fit the bit correctly. I was asked to unsieze one and managed it but the SDS chuck never worked right after that.

Do you know of a video anywhere or a decent online pdf manual. What comes with the Drill, is as usual, multi-language, but they all point to the back for diagram 10 p135 (etc) for this that and the other. It shows the bit being pushed in. Does not show any turning arrows (if I do not turn it will not lock) and does not indicate there will be any forward and back movement.

I am in the process of contacting the shop and Bosch. Too expensive to screw up and this weekend I am due to serious works with hammer action now!

You don't need a manual. The bit pokes in the hole and it may need turning into place until it clicks down. You'll know when it's in properly mate.

Failing that take it to a hardware store and ask them to show you how to do it.

    Thanks to Ashley

It's pretty straightforward as described above.

The one I had to fix had been damaged by a labourer who somehow managed to push the thing in without lining it up.

It really is very simple. Push the drill bit in. Click. Done. Push down on the chuck to release.

    Thanks to Geko

Ha, this is moving me into further worry.

If I simply push down, it can be pulled out. I need to push and twist, this then cannot be pulled out. However, I have this worrying degree of back and fourth movement. I am going to take that advice and go into a store and get someone to show me an SDS+ drill bit fitted, while I am holding it!

    Cheers.....Q

The back and forth movement is normal. No offence but you might be better off asking a friend to do it if your that scared of the drill.

Haha, I have used it already. Scared of the drill, no. Scared I will break it and then need to replace it due to my negligence, yes!

Do you have one (or old model SDS+). I would expect some kind of note to say, forward and backward motion normal.

This is the first Pro drill I have ever owned. Where did I give the impression I was scared, I am intrigued?

Cheers for the confirmation on back and fourth!

It's a lot of worry for a drill. They have to have a bit of movement else they jam/burnout.

With the missus on my back, I am not sure if I will. Or if that would be e blessing in disguise.

I don't mind being under the thumb, its with beatings and withdrawal of my laptop that hurts the most (I am joking (she made me write that))
