Guys,
I have recently had an extension at the rear of my house and a new room built into the loft. Whilst his was happening I ran some coax cable from my virgin box (brown one) on the outside of my house via a splitter up to the roof.. I then have another splitter that takes the coax to a tv point in the loft room and coax out the back of the loft room and into the rear extension. (hope you followed that)
So I now have a virgin point in the loft and one in the rear extension.
I already have tivo in the front of the house and I ordered a standard HD for the back.
When I plugged in the HD for self install it gave me the AP52 error.
I had a visit from an engineer yesterday who was the laziest cunt I have ever met.. he was beyond bored of his job and did a quick cable test and simply said that there was no signal coming through the cable and that the cable was not the correct grade to run the virgin signal.
I have checked all connections at the splitters and I am sire they are fine.. Could I have the wrong grade of Coax. I did buy the reel from ebay.. Does it need to be a particular grade?
How would I know.. what are my options
Have any of you done a similar thing?
many thanks in advance.
