I'm not going to quote individual posts, that will just cause arguments. In general, the thread has gone downhill following a simple question.

I am quite shocked. I have had some good replies, fair comments, honest and helpful suggestions. Yet on the flip side, I have somehow upset and or angered people. I was in no way looking to undermine what work anyone does. I thought of the idea and I thought it was worth a punt in the suggestion box. It was not a demand or request for special treatment.

I think that's the point some people are missing - you had an idea and suggested it but somehow it's been misinterpreted by a few people.

Personally I don't think it's a bad idea to get a preview of what extras the VIP status gives if it encourages more folks to become VIP.

Like many of the guys I pay the £25 not for VIP access or a special label on my profile, it's because I love this site and want it to continue so I pay to help fund it (less than 50p a week is well worth it IMHO) and £25 is less than I'd spend on a single night out when I go to the local for a few ales. BUT I also understand in the current hard financial times that not everyone can afford to give £25 away.
