Some top games mentioned here. Quazatron was amazing, I still play it on emulator every now and again. I also played Elite regularly until I discovered Oolite. If you liked Elite get it. Still has the retro feel but brought up to date without spoiling it.
    Head over heels was epic.
    Loved Target Renegade as well.

I had a Spectrum +3, but I was still too young for it. The AMIGA is the computer that reminds me of my youth. I had the 600. I used to go to the carboot sale every week to get the newest games. If I watch a compilation of the games on YouTube, it's nostalgia overload for me. I haven't got an emulator though, I think playing them would take away the magic.

On the Spectrum I liked The Ghostbusters Game, Kickstart and The Football Management games. I had a tape deck plugged in with an RCA lead, so I could play the +2 games, as there was far more of them..!

    My progression was...
ZX Spectrum 48k (rubber keyboard), found out if it broke and you took it back to WH Smiths they replaced with a +,
    ZX Spectrum +,
    ZX Spectrum 128
    Commodore Amiga 500

Did any1 else complete Ye Ar Kung Fu only using the punch? (my 1st game)

Parents wouldn't let me have one and got me a Vic20 instead cos it had a more professional looking keyboard lol
So I didn't join the tape to tape party 'til late but still remember playing Starquake, Battle of the Planets, Uridium, Bomb Jack, Theme Park, Sweevos World*, Batman, Jetpack, Jetman, Spy Hunter, Commando, Knight Lore, Atic Atac, Manic Miner .... and still play Starquake on the iPad.

Yeah - the main character looked like Stan Laurel, you had guide him round solving little puzzles by pushing big cotton reels and boxes about to trap the bad guys and open up access to stuff iirc

I think Whirled was the 128K version, I dunno about those huge fancy 128K games tho cos I only had the 48K+ version

As I mentioned earlier look for 'Marvin spectrum emulator' in the play store.

Never the same though, seeing those moving sprites on the screen back in the 80's was a huge leap at the time, now it's just 5mins of nostalgia.

See the mistake you made was using an Amstrad Spectrum!
I have an unhealthy collection of Spectrums (Including all the Amstrad built ones), but my used one now is the 48k + then the 128k model. Just got to be careful of that heat-sink!

    Ah.. The memories.

Did anyone ever try Worms or Street Fighter II - They released them as part of a marketing campaign years ago.

Tell me about it. I loved my 128k but fucking hell it was a hazard if left on for long periods!

christ... Sf2 looks awful! Everyone knew the speccy didn't have the graphics, it had the gameplay. That sf2 had neither! I can accept large monochrome sprites, heavy on the magic, thantos, etc but that looks like it plays shite.

I progressed to an MGT Sam coupe after. That was actually a good machine, but times had changed and pcs were becoming more popular.
