    Photos Ladybird's Journey...

Here's a little ladybird - made it's way through the laurel leaves until it found a take off point, and then the damn thing flew between shutter presses! Jeez they are hard to capture at the moment of take off though!

I used a softbox on these attached to my Metz flashgun - a home made softbox from an old ice cream tub and sheet of A4 paper.

Exif on all was the same:

Right, the big green arrow behind me says go along here to reach the runway....

Crikey, it's further than I thought, need to get my head down for a few seconds snooze...

Ok, Ok, nearly there now, but this bloody runway goes on for ever...

Aha! This is the take off point! At last! Start to get the wings ready... "Start Up Right Wing Case"

And then it was gone before I got another chance...

    Paul.

Yeah - it's a great lens, but if you have the extra moolah get the IS version so you can hand hold too.

    Paul.

Lighting is absolutely excellent mate. Nicely rendered detail and almost no hot spots on the LB (great choice of subject to test it).

You can see a bit more light fall off of course but I tend to shoot ISO 200 to 250 and flash at +1ev to combat that (you'll be able to go even higher on the 70D of course but I find 200 to 250 (with the shutter speed set to match the ISO) works very nicely.

Colour temp a touch warm (on the screen I'm using here in work). Will compare at home later.

Lets see a picture of the home made softbox then

I've been pondering myself whether to get one of these fab lenses, i've never bought from them but Simply electronics have the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM for £586.95 which seems very cheap.

The only reason i've not pulled the trigger is because i was waiting to see if anyone else has bought from them.

I've never bought from Simply but I've heard negative things.

Most people tend to go with DigitalRev and HDEW cameras (where I got my 7D, 15-85mm and 100 F2.8L from) are starting to become more and more popular.

Thanks mate, yeah i've held back because i'm not keen on spending so much on a company from overseas, i think if i do get one i'll spend a few extra quid and get one from a uk source, which i think HDEW are.

Cracking pictures always! Just a quick question for a complete newbie on photography, if your spending so much money on camera's and lenses why then do you need to use an ice cream carton with a hole in it.
