    Default Upside Down Plug ?

    All,

I am after a plug that has the cable access from the top and not the bottom. Does such a thing exist and is there a reason why (if) they do not ?

If it to tidy up the cables in the room, the extension will be above the current plug socket so I want the cable to run up nicely.

I haven't looked but I'm gonna guess because of the location of the earth pin which leaves little to no room for a cable grip let alone a three core cable?

:edit: ignore that. I'd not thought it through!!!

I wouldn't mind if it was a bit bigger in order to allow the cable to wrap down and back up again..
It is not a huge problem, I just thought something would exist.

I'm going to hazard another guess, and that is with the current design, the earth pin and a longer wire are designed to stay connected if the cable is pulled and the L & N wires become loose. Top entry wouldn't allow for that unless the earth wire was a LOT longer.
    Side entry ones exist though..

    Thanks to Zoots

Yeah there is that, but I don't want to do it that way.

I have found this, but it is big/bulky http://www.neostar-electronics.co.uk...-Expander.html

Something for a single plug must exist...

I like this, but it doesn't look like it ever went to market.
Would not solve the problem exactly but it is cool: http://www.dezeen.com/2009/06/29/fol...-min-kyu-choi/

Just take the pins out of the plug and insert them all individually...

I do remember when I was at school, one of the lads had a Spectrum and just had the cables plugged straight into the socket! No plug at all! (Which is what you might be referring to??)

you can be sure it didn't meet standards for EU regulation. Plastic has to be certain thicknesses and so on.

Actually you could just wire it direct through a junction box. If you need to be able to cut the power throw a suitable switch on the loop.

This is of course assuming you don't need to move said appliance.
