I'm saving hard for a PS4, but if this does come to being, I will take a dent in those savings and grab one of these!

The fucker has cancelled until may now guess it's getting delayed even further
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.
Yeah I was told by funstock it was going to be May, I've left my order open with them anyway.

RetroN 5 – will it ever be released?
A reader explains why he’s become disenchanted with the RetroN 5, the console that was supposed to be every retro fan’s dream.
Retro gaming seems to have seen a revival recently, with many classic games being released on newer consoles, but there are companies that release clone consoles that can play original cartridges, with varying degrees of compatibility.
Last March American company Hyperkin announced that their RetroN 4 console would not be released and that it would be released as the RetroN 5, which can play Famicom, NES, SNES, Game Boy/Game Boy Color/Game Boy Advance, Mega Drive and Genesis catridges. With recent support for the Master System adapters it can play Master System games if you own the peripheral. You can also use original controllers with it. But it comes bundled with a wireless controller and can output through HDMI.
The RetroN 5 was announced over a year ago. As a clone console the original announcement surprised people with what it set out to do. But has the constant delays and ropey answers from the manufacturer spoiled the party for people waiting for this product?
The console was originally announced to be released back in the summer, when I first interviewed marketing director David Yu. When manufacturer Hyperkin were repeatedly asked what was going on they still gave the obtuse answers, ‘We’re still in summer’.
Summer has been and gone and then it was announced it would be released in December. Many people, even myself, took that announcement with a pinch of salt, because it was announced there was a problem with a ‘connector’ which pushed it back to second quarter 2014.
But what has really irritated people was they announced these delays and problems but at the same time Hyperkin repeatedly pumped out the same information regarding the console, that in the end there’s a lot of speculation regarding the technical side. Like that it dumps the ROM of the cartridge and boots the game up, or that it’s using some Android-based software, but they haven’t been confirmed by Hyperkin at all.
At the same time they keep tight-lipped about it they are parading the machine at gaming conventions, while still not giving any definite answers. Although they did tell us the casing got changed with some pictures and also that the RetroN 5 can use a power base converter add-on to play Master System games.
With no solid release date they said it’ll be out in April. Sure they have shown the console in action at conventions or through social media with photos and videos but I think a company that’s hesitant to engage properly with a base of of people who are interested is leaving a lot of people to feel frustrated and dejected.
But at the same time Hyperkin has been sneaky, especially with the European distribution of the RetroN 5. Funstock has the deal to distribute the console in Europe, but at the same time during the Gamescom event a list was obtained with some retro stores in the UK. Under the pretence of promoting the console what they actually did was try and market the console directly, so you end up with a bit of a messy problem.
Hyperkin’s PR manager David Yu made a lot of promises and implied quite a lot of things but he has either back-peddled on some of them or he has continually changed what he meant at the time. Which just begs the question: if the staff at the company don’t know what they are even doing should people be prepared for the worst?
I can’t blame Funstock for not wanting to discuss the issue because it just seems like they had a deal but Hyperkin wanted to renege on that deal. But with both of them being pretty evasive on the issues how can people look forward to the machine when it will probably miss its April 2014 release date?
Even Hyperkin’s competitors have continued to improve on their products, with Retro Bit releasing the Super Retro Trio that will play most of the systems the RetroN 5 has touted. Although it doesn’t output through HDMI or play Famicom games, but apparently it is still compatible with imported games.
The RetroN 5 has been a saga of dubious promises and constant delays. It’s just turned into a fiasco that’s set off a lot of alarm bells. As the dust begins to settle on this disaster there already seems to be an air of recriminations.

I've got no "sensible head" when I see some old school games on a hand held, so I've ordered the wonderfully named JXD s7800b - I'll let you know what it's like when it gets here.

I need to be able to plug pads etc into it. As for the neogeo x, saw that deal and I have twitchy fingers
