If you fancy beef a Moroccan dish I do is:

Batch fry a load of diced beef with the usual seasoning + a fair bit of cinnamon.. chuck in slow cooker (also pinch of turmeric, ginger & cumin)
fry your onions + garlic then add half bottle red wine to deglaze all the bits off the bottom of the pan and add to slow cooker
add some passata to slow cooker and sliced mushrooms leave for how ever long you want... add more cinnamon to taste and half hour before you want it add tom puree to thicken (I add nearly a whole tube as I love it)

Sometimes I eat with crusty bread or sometimes do roasts

Something with a nice layer of fat on it,. The fat will keep is wet (oh matron) whilst it's cooking.

I have heard the Coke thing a a few times and it has to be full fat because of the Sugars.

A heads up for your Dry Rub needs, I use http://www.justingredients.co.uk/ I went a bit mad a few moths ago and have tons of stuff!! Got some dry rubs already made up rady in jars.

The coke thing goes really well with either gammon or bacon joints.... the sugar from the coke and the salt from the cured joints balance each other out really well !!!!

Another good 1 is fatty joint of pork slow cooked with cinnamon & (genuine) maple syrup....
