Badges for Whatsapp, twitter and facebook etc

Been looking at why android doesnt by default give you badges for twitter, whatsapp and facebook etc. I can across this website which tells you what to do.. As a noob, does it sound about right?

To get iOS like badges on app icons you'll probably need to replace the launcher on your Z1

The article you link to suggests Nova Launcher Prime which works really well. I personally use Apex Launcher as it supports badges on the email app I use.

The cool thing is you can install and test any of these launchers, set them up, play with the layouts but you can always easily get back to the original launcher and your old layout without losing anything.

There are some really funky launchers out there, including 3D ones, rotating ones etc etc.
