Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker dies in California car crash



Paul Walker was attending a charity event

US actor Paul Walker who starred in the Fast & Furious series of action films has been killed in a car crash in California, his publicist says.
A statement on his Facebook page said Walker, 40, had been a passenger in a friend's car which crashed north of Los Angeles.
He was said to be attending a charity event at the time.
He starred in The Fast and The Furious in 2001 and featured in the sixth film in the franchise which opened in May.
Walker also starred in the suspense drama Hours, a movie that is set for release this month.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's department said the crash happened in the community of Valencia.

The car burst into flames after the crash
It said deputies found a car engulfed in flames when they responded to a report of a collision. Two people found in the car were pronounced dead at the scene.
Images showed the burned-out wreckage of a red Porsche sports car by the side of the road.
"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organisation Reach Out Worldwide," the statement on the actor's Facebook page said.
"He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We... are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news.''
Universal Pictures also issued a statement, saying studio staff were "heartbroken" by Walker's death.
"Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast & Furious films, and to countless fans.
"We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."
Walker was best known for his role as undercover agent Brian O'Connor in the Fast & Furious movies.
He was one of the leading protagonists along with Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez.

Would highly recommend watching hours. Powerful performance and he was clearly a highly talented actor. Not often a celeb death gets to me but when someone so young and talents dies in a senseless way..

Felt the same when Spartacus star Andy Whitfield died...

To be perfectly honest I've not watched a single one of his films as I'm a grown man, however he looks quite handsome and I'm sure he would have made a good Hamlet if he really put his mind to it.

Only in the modern world do we believe we have to create threads for minor celebrities, so everyone can post interesting and thought provoking comments such as "RIP", "What a waste", "So young". I'd rather be honest and say I couldn't give a shit. I never saw a thread on here for the 8 people killed by a helicopter in Scotland. Just for some guy who gave a very wooden performance in the Fast and Furious Franchise. Does the fact he made it on TV make him a more important person in your eyes than all the others that died this week?

Because it was posted on here, so I am entitled to my opinion. If it was his funeral with people who knew and loved him, I obviously wouldn't have said it. But I wanted to piss off all the Lemmings in this thread.

So if he'd have given a better performance then you would have cared?

At very least the fact that he was attending a charity event for the Philippines may show that he was doing his bit and may even spread awareness for that cause. The people that care in this instance would have been looking forward to seeing his future work so if they want to leave their respects then that's up to them.

The only reason I posted was because I just saw his performance in Hours , the film had my attention throughout even though it had bad reviews.

Yes he is in the spotlight because if his acting career, and sadly the Scottish helicopter victims aren't. Hell that accident was probably more personal to me as I walked by that pub every day for 3 years during my apprentiship.

I didn't know him, never spoke to him or know the slightest thing about him besides his acting career, and only saw him in a few interviews on tv, seemed like a decent guy, quiet, done his job and didn't get bogged down in the limelight of fame. He even had his own charity apparently and did a lot of fund raising for disaster victims. The bottom line is no one deserves to die at 40'ish and leave behind a 15 yr old and wife. I'd would take the guy for a beer.

So I'm not going to say RIP again but hats off to a top bloke!

There is something about celebrities which always make people act as if they know them.... just because they have seen them on TV or in a film. You know nothing about them except for the job that they did which was "Acting".... as in putting on an act.

As for the "RIP" thing, it has become a totally meaningless text speak thing like "LOL". How can you really like someone, yet instead of being arsed to write anything worthy of note for this person who has deeply effected your lives, instead you opt for "RIP"?

To add to the comment above.... not only was no-one RIP'ing about the 8 killed in Scotty Land, but no-one could be arsed to even post a thread about it either (obviously the occupation of law enforcing is not so inspirational as cocking around in a car in a film!). However, don't despair... I am certain that if the helicopter crash can be attributed to Cameron, there will be a lengthy news post on here about it.
