Default Exchange "accepting orders" no suppliers

Been waiting for years until my area in built up Manchester gets fibre broadband. Currently on ADSL which is fucking gash, 2.5mb line.

A broadband checker says my local exchange is "taking orders" for fibreoptic. But I can't find any supplier who is selling it in my area.

Any ideas what the craic is for that?

Means sweet fa to be honest. My exchange is listed as excepting orders since I moved here last summer but my cabinet is not and nor will it be. It's not economically viable for them. Or in other words we don't have Virgin cable either and there's a fair few businesses on the cabinet. They don't have to worry about putting in Fibre as they can make more money from what they currently have.

Anyway rant over, you need to check your cabinet using this:
    https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html

You can also email nga.enquiries@openreach.co.uk and see what they say regarding roll-out.

    Thanks to 4031283

Guess I'm on the fastest they do. Websites are not bad it's just downloading, I use torrents the most I ever see is 600 kbs and that's downloading anything on any website. Wifi or Ethernet it seems.

This is correct. Going through the same issues at work. Exchange is enabled, however as the cabinet closest to me isn't fibre enabled we are SOL. As BT are the wholesale provider, the other ISPs are irrelevant as they all lease from BT (although I would double check to confirm that's the case).

So although the exchange is enabled the cabinet also has to be upgraded. The BT wholesale site is the one that's get updated the quickest. Make some noise with BT and maybe get a few others on your street to do the same and they might change their mind but who knows!
