music Spotify Premium £4.99/month with UNiDAYS account/login (easy to get)

I just signed up for a months free trial of spotify premium and then after that was confirmed I applied the student discount to the account to get 50% off. Here's how:

Free trial (anyone can get this): https://www.spotify.com/uk/freetrial/

Sign up to UNiDAYS* (it's free): https://www.myunidays.com/ - now this is where many people will think there's no chance of them registering but have a look at all of the institutions supported it also includes schools and colleges. You'll need to log in to you or your child's or friends university/college/school to confirm your eligibility - this happens only once and it's within the UNiDAYS site and in my case it was just a username/password affair. *You can use NUS Extra if you have that already, but UNiDAYS is free anyway.

Go here and follow the UNiDAYS link to get spotify premium for £4.99 for up to a year: https://support.spotify.com/uk/learn...udent-Deals-UK

(I know that a reasonable free service exists but I've recently bought a sonos playbar and only spotify premium works via the sonos app, it seems to be a great service anyway.)

Have spotify started streaming in 24bit yet? Then I would be interested.

    Dunno, the FAQ says this:

What bitrate does Spotify use for streaming?

Spotify uses 3 quality ratings for streaming, all in the Ogg Vorbis format.
    ~96 kbps
    Normal quality on mobile.
    ~160 kbps
Desktop and web player standard quality.
    High quality on mobile.
~320 kbps (only available to Premium subscribers)
    Desktop high quality.
    Extreme quality on mobile.

Listening to Bron-Yr-Aur (Led Zeppelin) now & it sounds great.

Never mind the amount of bits, lossless first . 24 bit 96k would be great though

Closer... But... £20 a month for 16 bit FLAC seems a bit steep. I'd rather add to my Vinyl collection and rip them in 24 bit.

Fair enough, it was just an alternative - it seems to be a French service. I think maybe your requirements are not going to be satisfied with streaming services just yet.

I'm really happy with spotify premium for £0/£4.99. I'm able to listen to over 95% of the artists I've searched for so far and the playback is almost instant through my sonos speaker. The convenience is something else entirely, I really would recommend trying the one month free trial just to have a, well, a trial.

spotify is generally excellent at what it does but i too wish it had lossless . I only really use in the car/work and kitchen for casual listening. Its perfectly fine by mp3 standards.

hopefully we will eventually get a lossless option

What A/D do you use for this process out of curiosity?

Well... technically I haven't ripped the vinyl yet. I am in the process of restoring my property. When it is done, I will be buying a tube amp and ripping all my vinyl. I believe audacity is the tool to use.

So you will be using a pc with an a/d in its sound card ? If you have a nice Tt I would suggest using a decent one. I've no idea what's on the market these days. I worked in pro audio design for a long time and always meant to build one for that purpose but never got round to it. I did however build several amps and d/a s.

I'm still using it and think it's brill, still paying a fiver too. I recently bought some more sonos speakers and qualified for a years free deezer premium which is comparable to the spotify service I was already using. I can also download tracks to my phone via the deezer app (playback via app only) and apparently I could have done this with spotify premium as well. I have found new/old artists is never heard of before using these streaming services, very much appreciated as well.
