    Help forgotten password to laptop..

    Guys

i've forgotten my laptop password ( the first time i've ever forgotten one..)

problem is, that I went through the control panel to do the password reset disk to a usb, and it says to create it I need to enter the current password.. obviously I can't as I have forgotten it.

How can I remove / change the password, without having to enter the current password first????

    it's windows 7.

I'm thinking safe mode etc, but I'm never too sure about what to do when faced with that scenario.

Can you not go to the users and groups in computer management and set the password to blank? Or create a new admin account and use that?

    Default forgotten password to laptop..

    Pogostick will bypass the password.

There was a thread last week on this same topic. Can't find how to link to it in tapatalk but the OP was Larman.

create a bootable usb/cd drive (winpe or similar) that has access to the NTFS drive you have for windows. Boot to this device and navigate to the \windows\system32 directory of your windows machine. now rename sethc.exe to sethc.old. Then copy the cmd.exe and rename the copied file to be sethc.exe.

Now reboot your machine to windows 7 and on to the logon page. tap shift 7 times in quick succession - CMD will appear

In cmd type "net user administrator {newpassword}" replacing administrator with what ever user name you want.

only works on local account !

    Thanks to grrrd

If you have a Windows install disk then you can use this as your bootable cd - just press Shift+F10 on the user input screen

    Thanks to grrrd
