hi guys,

What firewall settings are you using on the WHS 2011?

Any of you who've read the plex server thread in VIP will see i'm having an issue connecting to Sab on WHS 2011 remotely. Finally worked out it was the WHS firewall, created rules for Sab with no joy but turned off WHS Firewall and could remotely access sab. However being a prat, i then went and reset WHS firewall back to default settings and can't connect to it in any way shape or form.

May have to re-install WHS but will still need to address the firewall issue at some point.

I've found the easiest setting for my media servers firewall is Off. Simple, yet effective.

All windows firewalls are shit anyway. If I was that worried about the security of my media I'd mess with it.
I'm not, so it's Off. Now rape me.

My Windows Firewall is OFF too with WHS2011 I would install Comodo Firewall http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-...y/firewall.php if I was worried about it but as I have a hardware firewall I aint ;-)

My firewall is on for me. 2012 essentials. I've not had any issues with plex so far but haven't tried much else on it.

I went for Xpenology as well. Had freenas and NAS4Free on it at different times but Xpenology was easiest to install and use. Add a Now TV box with Plex for £10 and job done for streaming to your TV

I currently have Xenserver 6.2 on mine and also ESXi on usb, having a blast with it
