Nigeria restaurant selling cooked human meat dishes busted

A restaurant in the Nigerian state of Anambra has been shut down after the authorities reportedly found it has been selling dishes made of human meat.
The police recovered at least two fresh human heads when they arrested 11 people from the restaurant including the owner, six women and four men, following a tip-off.
The blood-soaked heads were found wrapped in cellophane sheets.
Officials have also seized two AK-47 rifles, other weapons, dozens of rounds of ammunitions and several mobile phones during the raid.
"Each time I came to market, because the hotel is very close to the market, I always noticed funny movements in and out of the hotel; dirty people with dirty characters always come into the hotel. So, I was not surprised when the police made this discovery in the early hours of yesterday," a local resident told theOsun Defender.
A pastor, who was shocked to know that what he had eaten was human meat, complained to the police.
"I went to the hotel early this year, after eating, I was told that a lump of meat was being sold at N700 (£2.5), I was surprised. So I did not know it was human meat that I ate at such expensive price," the unidentified pastor said.
Reports of cannibalism sometimes emerge in Nigeria, but this is the first time a restaurant has been booked for selling human meat dishes.

Nature has a way of fucking you up when you try and mess with her. Prion diseases such as BSE or Mad Cows disease were a direct result of cows being fed bits of other cows and livestock...not a good idea in anyone's book e.g. just like cannibalism.

A friend is from South Africa and worked a lot in Nigeria at one point .. he was just telling me although Nigerians are predominantly devout Christians, due to poor education they still have massively strong beliefs in Voodoo & Witchcraft and bizarre shit like this is common place !!

Crazy for us to believe people can still behave like savages but I think it happens more than we know... our media/society just likes to 'protect/blind' us from it

I'm not sure I agree with that. There are lots of examples of species throughout the animal kingdom, from insects to mammals, who eat their own species, especially the young. Some of our closest relatives do it too, such as Chimpanzees.

BSE came about as a result of feeding cattle with infected meat and other animal byproducts, it wasn't purely down to feeding them their own species. In fact, the infection was thought to have come from sheep slaughtered in the same abattoir.

Well we agree that if that's Mother Nature, then let it take its course. if it were detrimental to the species then they would eventually die out and that trait would disappear. What I was talking about is man made interventions being harmful when they go against what's natural.

Ok, feeding scrapie infected sheep remains to cows may have triggered the BSE epidemic, but if we weren't feeding dead sheep to other sheep, the current scenario wouldn't have presented.
