Attention Sat nav takes atleast 10 minutes to find signal etc

Both sat navs are exactly the same! takes atleast 10 minutes to get any sort of signal and direct me to where im going

Two different makes, and the one has tomtom software uploaded to it....

my car is a renault megane, however im sure it was like this on the last few previous cars...

getting annoying now and not sure if its the car or if its the sat navs? but surely cant be a coincidence that both are doing it and both getting on a bit?

    Thanks in advance!

If you posted the models it would be handy so we can look up the chipsets if it's in your windscreen then it shouldn't be the car, but it's easy to test by trying it outside and compare the times.

I stand corrected, never heard of an athermic windscreen until now. My last car had a quick clear windscreen (I know this isn't the same thing) which was full of heating elements and that had no notable effect on my gps.

my navman was a bitch to find a signal, unless I opened the bit that showed the satellite search/strengths. It was as though by doing this it woke the system up. once done it would lock in less than 90 seconds.
