just to let you know what happened, I bought a stand alone charger from ebay and tried charging it up last night and it blew the fooking fuse.

Is it solder onto the main PCB or is it in a fuse holder?
Search rs rs for "smd fuses" it possibly something like this, any markings on the device?

Any markings on the device itself not the PCB?

It's a diode mate , if it was a type of fuse it would most likely be marked fb on the board for ferrite bead .
Have you tried removing it and trying to power it up ?
yes m8 ive cleaned it up and removed the damaged diode and it still does not turn on - green light.
ill get the part ordered and let you know if that works ok
