    Advice Stuck where to go!

    Well..................

Every bloody year me and the misses argues where to go for our hols and again here we are cant make up our minds yet again, anyway help, pointers etc are needed.

    So far.

    We have been to:

    Spain
    Bulgaria
    Egypt
    Turkey

We always go 5* and if possible upgrade the room, last year we went to Egypt and stayed in the Melia Sharm and upgraded to the level rooms, private pool (shared) but quiet, better room and a quiet separate lounge area to relax. We did the same in Benidorm at the Flamingo Oasis a few years ago.

So this year we are looking for:

13th to 25th May (fixed dates)
    5*
    Upgrades
    Beach location
    £1800 tops to spend
    11/12 nights
    From: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff

    You get the drift.

Been looking at Mexico but I currently finding it expensive, did look at Tunisia but its a bit like Egypt stuck in a resort but we do like a walk and that's what we liked about Turkey.

So, any pointers, links, hotels you guys can throw at us to have a browse over.

    Thanks

Vietnam or Cambodia. couldnt recommend them highly enough. Phu Quoc beach resort in Vietnam is paradise.

havent been to any coastal location in cambodia, but the people are very friendly and the country is superb

Plenty of 5* in both locations

Beijing via Malaysia. I hear the flights are cheap and you can do some unscheduled stop off's which appear to be popular at the moment.

It's nice to disappear for a while.

If you like a quiet relaxing holiday look into Porto Santo - it's Thomson only at the moment and lovely and quiet - it will get spoilt in the next ten years though as Ronaldo has bought a stretch of land and beach to build a new 7 star hotel for footballers.

Resort wise you've got the Pestana Porto Santo and the Colombos, we went last year and I'd love to go back as it was such a chilled out place.

I got told about the hotel he was building when I went Portugal last year, Portugal is a great place to go, just avoid the really commercial bits like Albu Feira as they are really over the top.

Went to Albufeira a few years ago. Six adults and 7 kids! We hired a Villa which was a good 10 mins from the main strip and loved it.
Own pool, all mod cons etc.
Popped out to Villamoura a few times which is where the money is at.

Because of the kids we were at base in the evening so did not experience the night life but as a resort it is big and clean enough with development ongoing. We did eat in a few local places for local people.. They were not very 'tourist friendly' until we had a chat with them and eat in there a few times. Very very cheap in the local places for local people! We were getting meals of Sea bass etc.. with wine for less than 5 euros a person! Compare that to a shite burger in the main strip for 10+ Euros.

Did you go to the Bull fights? I wanted to go but was stopped by animal rights protesters.

Not with the kids no. It was advertised everywhere though!

it was pre-season (footy) when we went. Sunderland and another premiership club (cannot remember now) were in town playing against Benfica and Porto in some competition. All the bars had it on and lots of banter was to be had.

I do remember one thing from the Holiday on the odd occasion we eat out at night... Steak on the Stone!

    Ok update,

Finally picked a place and this was the misses choice not mine

    Tunisia.

Staying at the Seabel Alhambra Beach Golf & Spa in Port El Kantaoui for 2 weeks.

Paid for lounge and priority access for the trip out plus extra leg room seats and on the way back paid for the Prime pack Service at Enfidha airport which includes a special Check-in counter with a red carpet, the usage of the lounge with a variety of food and beverage, the police and custom security procedures and a fast/private access from the lounge directly to the boarding area.

So all we have to do now is piss all.

Owe also paid for meet and greet at the airport so its just a park up, pass keys to driver, go in and on the way back call the car peeps and outside will be the car waiting.

    Cant wait.

Hope you aint leaving the hotel complex, Tunisia is a fucking shit hole, we stayed there in Feb for 5 nights.
Soon as you step 1 foot outside the complex they swarm you like a fucking rash, and watch out for the wristband scammers, they clock your wristband in the towns and come up with some shit about being a waiter or some shit and convince you to go to his brothers shop and he will look after you, muppet who tried it on us slipped up so we fucked off and jumped in the first taxi we saw.
Only in Britain….do we use the word “politics” to describe the process of Government. “Poli” in Latin meaning “many” and “tics” meaning “bloodsucking
    creatures”

My aunt just came back from Tunisia from a fortnigh trip. I asked how it went and she said it's a total dump and a week was long enough (she also went for 2!).
The Government don't recommend travelling there at the moment either.

With the current state of Tunisia, I wouldn't go.
I gather the Travel Agent (bought online?) didn't inform you of any of this? You got time/option to re-book elsewhere?

I'm aware of the possible trouble in Turdnisia but had the same last year in Egypt so not worried about it to be honest but I wanted to wait a bit but no misses wanted to book and get it over with.

Report back when I get home, not posting when I'm going for obvious reasons but never been so its another country off my bed post notch.
