Internet finally fixed!

Since I moved to my current place in 2008 I've never had the full speed; 50mb I received 20mb, 100mb I received 45mb, 120mb I received 51mb. Well I phoned VM today and kicked off again today, one of their guys in India tweaked the signal input and boom sorted. Finally!



Now to wait for them to turn up tomorrow and re-cable their stuff into my office. I'm going to try and blag a superhub 2 at the same time, in preparations for 152mb upgrade. Guy on the phone wanted £50 lol, pass...

I'm going to phone them tonight, i'm on 120Mb and my speed fluctuates from 50Mb to 90Mb.

The last time I spoke to someone about it they were blaming my laptop so I hung up.

They were blaming my PC at first, so I gave them remote access after hiding everything, then it was my switch (1Gbps), then they transferred me through to sales and then India.

Out of curiosity, why was 51mb not quick enough?

I struggled for years on 2-7mb connection as BT had rubbish lines to the old place. But I was still able to browse, stream, play Xbox Live and download.
I am now on BT Infinity 2 or 3 (whatever the latest is) on the highest speed in the new place, but the only benefit I really get is I can download a TV show in seconds.

I do all this from work so it is done for when I get home. I am considering knocking down the package because I think it is all just a numbers game now.. Providing I get unlimited downloads I would be happy.

No speed is quick enough if you're paying for the service and it's not being delivered.
If I was you hilljd00 I would have insisted on a refund for the difference in service charges you've had over the years too seeing as it was a proven VM fuck up.

I get about 40 currently, upgraded to 100 and get..... 42. Should I complain or is it contention or is it tech??

If it was contention you would at least get your full speed some of the time (usually off peak) if you never get the speed sold to you there is a problem
Try connecting via Ethernet cable directly to router if that makes no difference it is a problem their end !!! If it does make a difference you need a faster wireless card in your PC

Are you on fttc ?

Chances are the line from the cab to your premises can only handle 40 ish hence why the upgrade on the acc made little difference.

I thought the trials for vectoring finished last November and BT may have been rolling it out across the UK. ;-)

BT Don't offer 100mb yet .... supposed to be coming this year although I thought they were going upto 120mb !!!
