Photos Discarded Nets on the Shore & other Arnside Landscapes Today

On the shore at Arnside itself, there are some old finishing nets just lying around. Looks like they have been there for years, though on the half-dozen visits I have probably made to this village, it's the first time I have seen them.

Good stuff Paul. I live in the southwest and after the months of storms we had recently, quite a few beach and general shore areas have changed beyond recognition with entire beaches losing their sand and uncovering things that haven't been seen for centuries. Maybe that's what's happened to the netting in your picture, buried for a long time under sand etc.

    Thanks to burner1

I've been told it MIGHT (not sure 100%) that the nets were put there on purpose to help protect against the potential floods at Arnside. Either way - helps a photo along nicely.

Lovely set Paul. Well spotted on the cargo nets. Interesting and different subject.

Is that rain falling in the last one. Like the way you've captured the sky (and rain if it is).

They were rain clouds Ian. I had to scurry back to the car (fish and chips had arrived anyway) and I had just spent 20p to have a piss in the public loos! On the way out of the loo, I looked across the bay and the raindrops were already falling, and that's what I saw out to sea.

Someone suggested using NR in LR on those clouds, but I like the roughness of them as it is. I had to tease a bit of the shadows for the effects of the rays of the sun to be seen better, just below that cloud formation.

    Paul.
