    Default Stock options in a buy out

    Does anyone know what happens to un exercised stock options in the event the company get bought out ?

    I think they give you with the option to convert them to new stock or pay you for them.
    I went through one a few years back but as I was new I never had any unexercised options. The gave me new options which I could sell at various points over 2 years but I do remember some of the other folk being given the option to take payment or new ones.

    There should be a procedure in place and I think they have to send you letters out to tell you the plans/options you have.
    It is one of those emails to HR or speak to the boss to find out I am afraid as it is likely to be different at every company.
