I'm sorry if I'm being a bit insensitive, but the BBC reports that they caught and killed a giant rat in Sweden

I for one agree with you M8.

I had a cat for 25 years and came home from work and she didn't answer to my calls so started to panic, grabbed a torch and she had a little house outside and found her dead in there.

I cried like a baby on the kitchen floor and the wife came home from work.

I had a dog put to sleep after a vet practice said it was a abscess on the jaw but another vet practice knocked him out and it turned out to be cancer of the jaw so he was put to sleep.

I know what its like to loose a family pet and all jokes aside its heart breaking.

don't get me wrong I know how much of a bond you can get with certain pets - mainly dogs.

cats only show affection when they want to and are not as loyal as dogs
rats and mice don't give a fuck if we exist or not just as long as they get food.

As Brian has got us on the subject I must ask !!!!

Is it just me but as upsetting as it is to lose a pet don't you find the "grieving" process is very short (compared to losing a loved human) ??????

e.g We lost a dog which (no lie) was burnt to death in a terrible accident !!!

I was devastated for about 24 hours... then it was like .... oh well at least it wasn't one of the kids ....

Also lost a greyhound after the poor bitch ate raisins.... did not know but raisins are toxic to dogs and cause kidney failure...
Again.. tears in eyes... next day hey ho !!!!

There's a line in the song 'Bo Jangles' that goes "the dog up and died and after 20 years he still grieves". Only lost Taffy 3 years ago but I can relate to that. I will miss him for the rest of my life. It depends on the relationship you had with the animal. Lost cats and other pets before but none come close to losing the dog. He was my friend and companion who was there to keep me sane during the dark days when I was married to my alcoholic ex-wife. Don't know if I would even be here now if it wasn't for him. Would be dead or locked up for murder.

Also Taffy had a swallowing problem so if he ate too fast he could choke. Hand fed him two or three times a day for nine years to keep him safe and healthy. Caring for a person or animal in that way can form a strong bond. (">

No. It is a product of your imagination. So is DF, the internet, and everything else you have experienced in what you perceive as the last 15 years. Before you fell into a coma you did see the birth of the internet but it never caught on. (">

No wonder the Rat lived with them to he must been thinking these 2 fuckers couldn't catch a cold, as long as I can still nip under the skirting boards I will be fine, that's when he got complacent and grew so big :-(

Now... I will admit now, that I am not an animal lover. I would rather have a hemorrhoid, than have an animal in my house.

    But...

I have a question. How many of you who love your animals are vegetarians? Is it all animals you like? Or just the ones you don't eat?

Good question some animals a domesticated which means they have bonded to humans for survival other animals are bred for food and ironically that's how they survive as they get the protection the from humans this way.

They reckon that the cow would of been extinct years ago if it wasn't a food source for Humans and we protected them from other predators.

    Thanks to akimba
