Default Alloy Refurb, worked better than expected.

I bought some alloy wheels off ebay a little while back -

    http://www.digital-forums.com/showthread.php/896475-4x-Ford-Mondeo-17-quot-Wheels-Alloys

with a view to replace the messy ones that were already on my motor...

After replacing them with the new ones, I thought I'd have a go at refurbing the old ones.
A little rubbing down, some white primer, Ford Moonstruck Silver and Clear Lacquer, they have come up incredibly well...

The reason for the post is to let others know in the future that even I can do it!
For Fords from 2001 - 2007 the colour of your Alloys would usually be Ford Moondust Silver and NOT the Bright Sparkle Silver which I found recommended on another forum.

There are still some real minor imperfections in places, but considering I don't spray anything very often - it's not a bad job.
I'm now even considering putting them back on and getting rid of my new ones!!

Nice job mate, I did my winter wheels a few years back, looked good as new then, but rough as fuck now though. Going to pay to get them powder coated next time, paint just can't withstand heat from braking, salty roads, harsh weather, etc where as powder coating can.

    Nice work.
I'm just about to swap to my winter wheels and refurb my originals.
I was gonna do it entirely myself but recently found a place through work that'll shot blast, prep & prime them for £11 per wheel.
I've been messing around with plasti-dip recently and really like it so will be painting with that.
    Pics to follow sometime soon.

Might as well bring this old thread back to life.
Got fed up with the 18" Low Profiles after whack1ng one too many pot holes and destroyed some bearings.

So now find myself busy again this weekend with this little lot -
    MttaK9sIYbqTPboopAZmgKBNsxhSG2t8bHM5PZIYPrc.jpg

Picked up 8 Wheels for £120.
Bargain seeing as these are like rocking horse shit round here, couple of tyres needed here and there, but will take some befores and afters of this little project.

I wrecked one of mine in a pot hole , snapped a bit of the alloy off the rim and bent the bottom ball joint .
I'm looking for 15" 5 spoke clio alloy if anyone got a spare one for sale ?

Just got some of this stuff for tarting up wheels with.

I don't think it'll work too well for bits that have 'snapped' though.
