    Default Creating dynamic website

    Right then,

I need to get back into building a website. My previous site that was used for a Fantasy Football league (for about 15 people) I did using asp.net and hosted in windows IIS. I used Microsoft SQL Server for the Database.

I now have a Mac Mini that will do the hosting and the database is probably going to be MySQL, but what is the best code behind to use?
As far as I am aware, asp.net is a windows only (without pain) code behind and the chances are some better languages out there now.

It is going to be a site with a lot of dynamic charts/stats etc.. and I need to allow a few people to push data to it. Ideally a 'mobile' version too.

It is something I will probably need to maintain on a windows box and a Mac but it will be hosted on a Mac.

    Cheers.

to be honest there's plenty of templates out there that you can basterdise after a very quick google http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpffl/

    Thanks to akimba

Why don't you just use asp.net in a virtual install of Windows using something like VMWare?

Yeah it is looking like I will have to do that. I have plenty of Ram in it so it should work fine.

Have you checked if chillisoft's ASP package can run on your setup.. will be able to avoid VMware if it does.. there are a few ports of it out there last time I checked (I may have the devs name wrong but think it was chillisoft or similar)

PHP is best. I've been doing web design for about 18 years and PHP is pretty easy to be honest. If you can code in ASP you should have no problem with PHP.

I am behind schedule on this. Going to look up some php stuff and see how it goes.

I have been more focused getting my Wordpress site up for the family and the NSA310 was been a bitch..
