Indeed Comodo Ice Dragon sounds like a great way to upgrade Firefox, being based on it but supposedly faster. Open-source evolution at its best.

I have to second you on their security products: I've been using/recommeding Comodo Internet Security (firewall+antivirus) for a couple years now, and it's the most low-maintenance free program I've used by far. At least compared to past headaches with AVG, Avast, F-Secure, Sunbelt and ZoneAlarm.
