    Help HP G62 Strange Screen Problem.

    I've tried googling this issue, but keep coming up with the flashing Caps Lock problem. This laptop is not suffering with this - I wish it was!

    This laptop, so far as I can tell makes it into Windows but the screen stays completely black.
    I've checked the cables, tried the VGA and HDMI port, both cause 'No Signal' on the monitor/TV.

    The Wifi light illuminates white (from red) after about 45 seconds (Windows boot time and driver found?). Caps Lock also functions as it should.
    It's almost as if the screen is completely none existent. I've also tried to flow the GPU with a heat gun, but that has made no difference whatsoever.

    Before I replace the screen (expensive without knowing for sure) is there anything I should try?

    To see if it's getting into windows put a network cable in it and confirm it's on your network, or check your router if you think it's getting on your wifi. Try RDPing from there. Won't help with the screen issue but it will confirm what you thought.

    Tried this, but doesn't ever become available on the Network.

    Wireless light on, Caps Lock responds as it should. Trying now to boot into Windows Blind (Windows Failed to Startup, blah blah blah). To see if I can make it make a noise. If it does, I might suggest the customer replaces the screen.
    Odd the HDMI/VGA and screen not working. Also have just finished cooking the Mobo in the Oven for 8 minutes, just in case it was cold solder on the GPU, but that has made no difference whatsoever either.

    Shame as it's a lovely looking Lappy and looks like it'll end up in the graveyard if I cannot get it sorted.

    Power on tap F8

    Enable VGA mode or go via safe mode

    also power on then close the screen with a external connected - should then default to external only.

    Nothing on the screen. Can't tell if anything's happening.

    I've had this error code once before on an hp and ended up gambling on getting a new screen which was indeed the problem. Have you got another lappy screen that you could try, just to see if you get an output?

    Is the screen Black or can you see anything faintly as sounds like the inverter has gone.

    @mml
    Your right, it is a total gamble, and I want to make sure to get it right the first time.
    I've got Lappy screens here, but none are gonna fit! I've even got a HP Laptop, buts screens completely different.

    @akimba
    Screens completely black. No faint signs of life at all.

    The most annoying thing is the laptops not bitching or moaning about anything.
    Usually, if the GPU is fried, it'll be going nuts somewhere. So I am inclined to say the screens screwed, but this would'nt explain why the HDMI and VGA ports aren't working either.

    Usually you can see something when inverter goes but cos the laptop is not bitching I wouldn't rule it out, about £8 on ebay.

    most of the connectors are the same though (arent they?). can't you just remove the old one and plug one of the others in? just to test? LCD Kings have taken screen back from me on ebay when i've got the wrong one or it wasn't the problem if you do go down that road.
