    News Important Message for Ebuyer

Fuck Ebuyer and their returns policy.

Newegg Headed for UK Next Month

Newegg, one of the premier online electronics stores in the US, is set to start opening its virtual doors to Europe at the end of next month. It’ll be a soft opening while the electronics retailer gets its shipping and supply line bearings, but it’ll open the online electronics giant to a while new market in no time flat.
Being US only, Newegg has claimed up to 25 million registered users and 8.5 million email bulletin subscribers. The company expects to grow quite a bit with its European expansion and is likely to do so unless competitors Amazon and Scan take a hard stance against it.

If you aren’t already buying your electronics from Newegg, you probably should be. Newegg is the best place to get PC components and parts along with any other electronic device you can dream of. Their prices, at least for PC parts, are unmatched, and their shipping service is superb. I’ve used Newegg to build multiple computers and they’ve never failed me. Europe should rejoice in its good fortune.

To be fair I'd be happy with this as they sell quite a few things I've wanted that I couldn't get anywhere else as it was their own brand!

And totally randomly this made me think of Best Buy - I loved that place and was gutted when they pulled out of the UK. It's just come up on the news that Dixons are in talks to merge with Carphone Warehouse (who originally partnered with Best Buy in the UK. I wonder if this announcement is also pushing them down this route?

2tb WD red exchange equivalent of £66 vs £76 via quick search on Google shopping.
Likely to be savings but not a direct $ / £ conversion. Will end up with similar prices to the current UK market.

I have recently taken advantage of some offers from eBuyer. They were selling reams of Canon A4 paper for roughly £2.34 per ream delivered.
I ordered 6 as separate orders on separate days - I win

Oh and I should add that during Feb they were upgrading offers to Next Day Delivery too! Two of them turned up on a Saturday.

Newegg has gone live in the UK from yesterday (9th April 2014). Got http://www.newegg.com and change the country and currency at the top of the page.
They are delivering here direct from the US between 4 and 7 days.

I just priced up a couple of things I bought from eBuyer inclusive of delivery and would have saved £30 going the newegg route.

I see them being a contender for the smaller items of tech we all love, but things like PC Cases are going to prove to pricey to post.

Still, nice to have another real contender in the ring!

Ebuyer have gone very quiet. I do not get any of their stealth emails now.. Will have to check out Newegg though.

Also, was yesterday not 9th April or is it a delayed post?

Balls - just gone to have a nosey to see if I could order the monitor stand I was after and it's available in the USA but not in the UK or Australia!

Not sure if they're only selling certain things here for now - early days I guess!

Not on talk sport they haven't, they've had adverts running on there since Monday. Newegg have them rattled maybe?

Are they going to ship from the UK too at some point? The Crucial M500 120GB SSD is £46.49 (I have been paying £50-54 and have bought loads of these recently for XP upgrades) but after duties and shipping it's £66.92.

Best Buy tried this and failed... hopefully New Egg will do better. I still prefer going to SCAN for all my kit (in fact, just put £1200 worth of kit into my case) as if there's an issue, it's only 30 minutes away and I have an excellent rapport with them.

EDIT: Ok, I could have saved £130 if I'd bought from New Egg... fkers lol. Wish I'd know about this. Still, I'll know for next time.

Scan are my go-to firm because they have good prices and daily deals, they use DPD who give me an hour window for delivery and I have lifetime free delivery with them. But... if you need to return an item they are very poor, they drag their heels, don't give you any indication of when the replacement will arrive and if you send them a support ticket it rarely gets answered. In short when things go right they are my favourite supplier but when things go wrong you'll wish you went elsewhere. Fortunately I haven't had to make many claims with them.

The problem with Best Buy was they opened with some amazing deals but soon after they increased prices so they weren't worth travelling to. As if they thought they could gain a lasting market share with a month or so of decent prices then jack them up...
