    Default Kidney stones -Lithotripsy

So, I have kidney stones in both kidneys.

I have some lithotripsy on Thursday, has anyone has this treatment before?

Did you need a stent inserting? This part has the shit scared out of me!

I posted in this thread about my stones - not sure if its the same treatment but I had an op to have it out, and lithotripsy sounds vaguely familiar.

There are a fair few threads if you use the search as well.

I would be happy with the Lithotripsy. Mine are too big. I either have to have an op like Rikman, or they go up my chap and break them with a laser. I don't know yet.

I had them and they where dealt with the old fashioned way.
I found if I took Buscopan IBS relief tablets which I know are for the bowel although these are also a muscle relaxant so they eased the pain at times.
I also took in copious amounts of water to try to pass them quicker.

Trust me your lucky... Had to piss mine out about 9 years ago without this treatment... remember laying on the bathroom floor and .. well.. pissing myself very, very slowly...
Felt like pissing a cactus over several days

I would prefer to piss them, than be operated on. But... Mine are larger than the tube they have to pass through by twice the amount. So not possible.

Can't remember the size mines where but the reason I drank so much water was it helped break them down to make them a more passable size.

Depends what they are made out of. I have been drinking a shit load of water for 6 months now.

Mine are twice as big as the tubes that link the bladder and kidneys. They aren't going through without help. I would prefer the pain, I have a high pain threshold and a condition which causes me pain on a daily basis anyway. My issue is with operations, although that is a mental thing.

The Lithotripsy sounds much better than both scenarios above though. No knife and less pain.

    Update :

Had my lithotripsy this afternoon, nothing to worry about. Although the morphine was very nice I believe it took the edge away. Urinating a lot of blood and feel terrible at the moment, hopefully will be better tomorrow.

Only another 11 sessions to go.

Why 12 sessions? How big / many stones?

I had a camera up my winky and I pissed blood for several days.

I have 3 stones in either kidney, all stones require two sessions each. Luckily I get paid for being on sick from work otherwise I would be knackered! (No pun intended)

Stones are between 4 and 9mm big in both kidneys.

Fuck me, you must have had a mouth like an Arabian Flip Flop to get all them - were you not drinking water at all?
Mine was 1.8cm hence the op, but I think I would prefer one massive stone and an op to 6 smaller ones and having to piss them out.

@Geko - have you had a full blown kidney stone 'attack' - cos it ripped the head off and shit down the neck of my pain threshold!
I was sweating, shivering, vomiting, shitting (felt like I needed to shit/spew at the same time), dizzy, stood up, sat down, lay down, crying, panting you name it....basically it raped my insides and left me shivering on the floor in the fetal position with no way to help myself.

Keep us updated both - I had another CT scan yesterday to see what's happening with my remaining stone, will let you know what they say.

That is my problem, I havent drank enough water in the past. I am trying to drink 2 litres per day as suggested but finding it hard to change my habits. Guess I have learned the hard way

Any updates on this? I am waiting on a Lithotripsy appointment. I take it you need someone to drive you to and from the treatment. Do you have to have morphine?
