    Help Wearable heart/pulse monitor?

The wife suffers from heart palpitations. We have been private to see a specialist who cannot diagnose it, and she has had an ECG, and also a 24 hour, and a 7 day heart monitor device strapped to her, all to no avail - both recording sessions failed to capture any of the episodes as there were nonre during those times.

The episodes absolutely terrify her, im just off the phone to her now, and she is a right emotional mess. she has had 13 in one day today!

I want to know if there is a wristband or something I can buy her that specifically monitors her pulse, stores it in the wristband - and then syncs to an app on my ipad/iphone. I want to build up a long picture, months if possible and then present this to the doctor and take it from there again.

She is taking steps in her life to reduce her stress as she is a very active person - rushing from one place to another. She needs to slow down and start thinking about herself.

But.... this isnt a thread about her and her condition. This is about wearable tech i can buy to monitor it?

    Any suggestions?

I know it's not a thread about her condition but I've got a mate who had similar random palpitations, it was scary if he had them when I was there. Just floored him and he was gulping for air. Anyway, the root cause was an additional nerve signal getting to his heart or short circuiting something or other on his ticker.
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

I get these when stressed and had a full workup under BUPA the diagnosis was Benign Ectopic Heartbeats.
They were really evident when I was between jobs and forced to spend three months garden leave serving my notice.
My blood pressure tester had a display for irregular heartbeart and that was how I identified it.

They stopped as soon as I started the new job and I think, although it's easy to say that, identifying and eliminating the stress just stops the symptoms.

That was 7 years ago and i've only noticed it a couple of times since then.

Have a look here to see if there is something suitable for your needs.

    http://www.living3000.co.uk/shop/sea...pid=5337442535

A few possible options on there including this

    And this

I like this one but check out the specs for suitability. Not too expensive either at around £100

those look ideal but i think it will have to be something she can wear like a watch that records her pulse, and that can actively record and store the information

There are a few devices that pair up with a smart phone. Zephyr (http://www.zephyranywhere.com/) do a couple of chest strap devices that can link to IOS / Andriod / Windows / Blackberry phones via bluetooth. The data would be stored on the phone and there are loads of apps to choose from. I used one when cycling and although fairly expensive.

I'm sure garmin do a watch / chest strap combination too.

Most recorders you can buy require manual start of recording. From what I can see the wrist recorder is limited in the fact that it doesn't store pre-event data. There is another type with pads that attach to the chest that still requires manual start but will store pre-event data.
You can see examples of both on this page. What you ideally need could turn out to be expensive so maybe if you knew she was going to be faced with a particular situation that can trigger these events you could ask the doctor to supply a 24 hour recorder for that day? (">

May do the job if heart rate info is going to be enough for the doctor to go on. Won't store ECG traces though which gives much more detailed information. (">

I heard this usually only happens during sexual arousal. Maybe she's having too much cock while you're away? In which case, I'd get her neutered.

Of course continually checking and watching for this can be counterproductive as she will focus on it and it could increase stress levels..damned if you do and damned if you don't I suppose.
You will get confirmation of the frequency and extent of the events I suppose..

I hope she can get a handle on it soon and get stress levels reduced..

My Garmin has one when I am out running, but that is overkill.

My old boss used to have a Polar - http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&k...l_4c2ugww33q_b

I have not researched enough to know if you can set alarms etc... but I would imagine you can.
To be honest, if you have private health care I would get a referral and get it looked at properly rather than strapping a £50 watch on and hoping it will shed some light on the matter.

we've already went private. Shes had a7 day and a 24 hour heart monitor which were unable to record the events. She had also hada ultrasound through private which showed nothing. she had also been prescribed beta blockers such don't always work.

I wouldn't know about any monitors, apart from the ones she's already had from the doc but if she's had a the monitors and the EEG, ECG etc and they are clear then just requesting the monitors again might suffice. Might also be an idea to have her adrenaline levels been tested if they haven't been already.
