Default Caister WW2 Pillbox and Caister Castle

Today, after my shift, I decided to travel to Caister, to photograph some WW2 Ruins that have recently been re-discovered on the beach. The ruins are that of a WW2 Pillbox. We recently had lots of flooding here in East Anglia, and the tidal surge washed away approx 10ft of sand, uncovering this WW2 relic, along with others.

Sadly the light just wasnt right for me to get any decent HDR shots of this fantastic piece of history, but it did allow for some off the rail normals shots.

I then travelled to Caister Castle on my way back to the ship, where i was able to get some HDR shots of the castle as the sun set. Hope you enjoy the shots.

i then decided to go and get pissed with the chief engineer. im still very drunk as of posting this.

The HDR shots are much better than the ones in the other threads of late, good stuff.

Bit of a backhanded compliment? ;-)

Certainly a compliment, CMG will agree that the other ones he did recently have issues which are down to software. We could all kiss arse all day long and say 'OMG, they are like Amazeball's innit' but they will not win any Take-a-break photo competitions

    I call it constructive encouragement

each to their own. I like constructive crit. Each person has their own tastes and are allowed to voice their own opinion.

No offence taken. The others could certaainly use some tweaking in PS or Lr. I just dont have the time at the moment.

Thanks all for the constructive comments. Appreciated. :-)

Looking back at them, the 3rd and 4th are really good, probably 2nd place contenders in Chat

No, seriously though they are great. What stands out for me though is:

Photo 3 - The Fence. Kind of spoils the scene, not really much you can do about that though.
Photo 4 - The Water. If you had opened the shutter for a bit longer the ripples would smooth out.

Again, some people will like them regardless but for me it is those two minor points. The HDR works great in them and I really like the setting sun/sky in the 3rd.

Yeah the fence did piss me off. Sadly the castle was closed for the day and couldnt gain access, and secondly, from where I took the shots was a private field. I could have hopped the fence, but there were 4 big fuck off cows about 2 metres away from me looking at me like I would a tasty treat.
