Last one we've bought was a Dyson handheld.

Totally irrelevant given your requirements but fuck, it's ace!

Avoid Vax. We've already had ours replaced under warranty and now this one is on the brink. Worst build quality I've ever seen in a vacuum cleaner and poor design (constantly clogs up). Our previous vacuum cleaner (Hoover) lasted well over 10 years.

Me too - fucking amazing bit of kit. Bought to replace a Samsung bagless which packed up after 8 months and I couldn't be arsed to try and get it replaced under warranty.

A recon Dyson off the auction site or a local seller would be my choice in that price bracket.

Always had a Henry. I like Dyson, but not meaty enough for us. They tend to break to easy.
Henry feels industrial, sucks like fuck, costs less than a ton and is bright red with a smiley face. What more do you need.

And you can make a comedy video of Henry doing a line of white powder.

I've got a Miele which I have had for around ten years and cant fault it but after its days I will get a Henry. My GF has one. They are probably the most reliable and best performance vacuums out there sub £100 which is why a lot of cleaning firms use them now.

I know it isn't bagless but from what I have seen and read bagless vacuums are over rated and allows more dust back into the air. As for Dyson...what a load of hyped up expensive crap. Don't take my word for it, ask at a vacuum repair/spares shop. (">

Another one saying AVOID VAX... you will need to wash out the filters every time you use it or it wont pick up fuck all !

As BigBird says I have always wondered why the Market is flooded with "reconditioned" dysons ?!?!?

We have had a vacuum cleaner graveyard in our house where we buy 1 and it breaks down so we opted for a recon Dyson (as didn't want to splash out a few hundred quid to find out they over hyped) from ebay and the thing just works like a trooper

Again, not bagless but I have a Henry. It's a doddle to change the bags and they do HEPA ones which can be bought cheaply. I bought my last two boxes from John Lewis, collected from waitrose.

Same as Deja for that price can't go wrong with Henry, robust and like mobileman says there are reasons commercial cleaning companies use them

    This.

It's no exaggeration either. The filters on them are a joke. I'm forever having to take it apart to clear blockages as well.

I remember a few years ago there was a patch where I lost count of how many times I would be round a mate's place when their Dyson fucked up.

There's probably a good reason virtually every industrial cleaner uses a Henry. Even if there isn't, they are spot on I reckon.

    Thanks to Over Carl

Yeah Henry all the way. Dysons do a good job, but the build quality isn't top notch.

In our house a henry replaced a dyson. Dyson was good but henry is better.

As for bagless, I prefer the henry with heppa bags. Emptying the bagless dyson occasionally sent dust everywhere.
