buying neutral density filters

im looking to buy some neutral density filters for my nikon d3100. i have a stock 18-55mm lens and have no idea how to select the correct size filters? any help would be appreciated.

I bought a selection from 7dayshop that were cheap.

I have a proper one, Hama?, that cost a bit more although for my use the cheap ones suffice

52mm are cheap. Most of my lenses are 77mm which are dearer. Good thing is at least having all lenses the same filter size makes it a buy once thing. Well apart from UVs.
