Got a phone call today telling me I can now upgrade for free (sort of a result) but none of the new plans now include unlimited tethering so I can now get note 3 that has 4g but not use my laptop to watch films in my van! where I spend quite a bit of time waiting for phone calls etc. tethering is now limited to 2 gig a month bummer!!!

I wonder if FoxFi will help you get around the 2GB tethering limit. you can find it in the Google Play Store. not used it my self as Vodafone have never bugged me about tethering before.

Don't accept that. They told you the phone was 4g so have missold it. If they are now admitting they missold it and have said you can have the upgrade as a good will gesture for nothing why would any contract change? You signed the original contract based on what was offered, that included a 4g phone and tethering.

I haven't taken it yet. I have rung back since going to store for upgrade, waiting for the same manager to ring back to ask why I cant keep same contract. I dont mind the couple of quid more but not when losing the best part of my service

Finally spoke with the manager who says they cannot offer unlimited tethering so I asked for the recordings and contracts so I could continue with disputing the miss sold phone with Ofcom . He said he would forward them to me. An hour later he rang again and said I could terminate my contract early for half price , again I said no since I could get a far better deal with ee for example. He then said ok he would issue a pac code with no early termination fee. I just received this so am now looking for a decent sim only deal with tethering till note 4 out prob in august. cheers for the advice.

Without being funny. You may find going to three for your aim only is the best deal. As I think the sim only offered tethering still, that may have changed in the last couple of weeks though.

No I think its gone on sim only as well but I may as well go with them for unlimited data sim only 1 month contract till note 4 comes out. there's not much can touch the eat all u want, but it was even better on unlimitet tethering for holidays etc and as i said earlier I sit in van a lot so I used to watch tv on laptop. ill have to get some glasses now (even for the note 2) or as someone else suggested earlier foxfi. Just a bit cautious of a big bill tho if they find out you are using foxfi

The PAC code is only valid for upto 30days, If you wait till Aug you will need a new code.
Unless you transfer before then that is.

They offered me a free upgrade so was going for note 3 but they wanted to then change contract to only 2 gig tethering so I said no finally got to end my contract early with no fee keep my note 2 so am free to go to any mobile provider now. so prob just keep my note 2 till note 4 comes out hopefully aug.(seems pointless having 4g and only 2g tethering since i mainly used it tethered to my laptop) as for pac code I will take out another 1 month sim only with 3 now and dunno if ill need the pac or whether they will just change me to sim only. I assume I go into 3 with my pac and ask for a 1 monthly contract whether ill need the pac I dont know.

You should take a look at Virgin sim only deals. They allow tethering and have unlimited data. If you have your pac code you'll have to move to another network.

This is why I don't go with phone contracts anymore. I just buy phones sim free and sim only deal ( one plan ) . Hope you sort

virgin don't allow unlimited anymore since april 1st only virgin customers can have unlimited everyone else now only 2 gig.

The item isn't fit for the purpose you wanted it for. As stated they mis-sold you the item on the grounds that it was 4g compat. Citizens advice best place to start and also log in a complaint to the ombudsman. Keep any information and give it to them when needed.

ha! ha! went back with 3 best deal i could find . pac code wasnt a prob they just cancelled it and put me on sim only unlimited internet 200 min 500 txts £12.90 a month , 1 month contract. I'll try foxfi and see what happens.
