We all make mistakes sometimes
Traffic seems to be running a lot better than some of our signal controlled junctions.
On the few occasions when the traffic lights in my town square have stopped working everything seems to run a lot better. When the lights are working you get people jumping the lights as they turn red and a lot of aggressive driving to get in front of everyone else. When the lights are not working everyone gives way to others and its a lot calmer and everyone gets away quicker. Maybe we should scrap all traffic lights in the UK? (">

Same here, there's a junction near my house with filter lane thats usually busy and holds up traffic. Last year there were roadworks that knocked out the lights and everything ran perfectly suddenly. Most people let cars through in the filter lane and everything suddenly relaxed.
You guys... Come to London for a day and observe the traffic here...
It amazes me when I go back up 'Norf that people are courteous on the roads, let you out of junctions, say thanks. Here in the Smoke, they are just cnuts!

yes, get rid of them all and lets just see what happens when god forbid someone you care about gets clipped trying to cross a junction which is no longer controlled by signals.
I have noticed that around where I live, the councils have been removing barriers from crossings?
It was only a couple of years ago that they put them up and they have now decided to rip them down... Money well spent..
I can only imagine that they were originally put up in order to protect pedestrians. It will only take one person to be killed and then they will spend the money putting them all back up again.
So if they can take the barriers away which endangers life, they might as well take the lights away too!
We all make mistakes sometimes
I agree with all of the above.
But London has been been heavily governed by thousands of stingy traffic lights, badly placed pedestrian crossings, poxy zebra crossings, the ever expanding congestion zones, prioritised bus lanes, no stopping red routes for years and have all taken priority over the regular driver, which is why most are 'cunts'.
Driving around London is a nightmare due to all the restrictions and we are all fed up with it.
I'm not saying getting rid of all these things would improve traffic in London, I'm simply explaining why London drivers are not as courteous as you lot 'Up Norf'.
I used to be a delivery driver around 5 years ago out of Tilbury dock and up and around London. The only way to get my job done in time was to push in, force my way through traffic and cut people up. If I didn't my day could end up being a 18hr one, and my wage was day rate! Needless to say, I jacked that job in!
The thread has reminded me of one of my pet hates:
Women (normally looking very chavvy/very drug addicted/both) who throw their pushchairs into a busy road to force the traffic to stop so they can cross.
Just one proven instance of this should mean the woman is never allowed to care for or be near children again imho.
Just remember that 70% of the cost of the fuel you're burning while waiting at the lights goes into the governments pocket.
If nature always takes the easiest route, what's easier...?
The creation of billions of galaxies each containing trillions of stars each with their own solar systems, some with planets that have evolved civilisations with billions of different life forms. OR The creation of just your imagination?
