Help Anyone tried a cheap Bluetooth keyboard with a Samsung smart TV

Rather than pay around £60 for a Samsung dedicated keyboard I was wondering if anyone else has managed to successfully use a cheap HID compatible Bluetooth keyboard with a modern Samsung TV which has built in Bluetooth. Was going to try a USB keyboard but why tie up one of the USB ports when the Bluetooth option is not going to be used for anything else.

This is the TV which has built in Bluetooth

And this is the HID compatible keyboard I was thinking of getting.

In theory any HID compatible device should work but things are not that simple in the real world. (">

I was seeing a girl who had a smart sammy 60".
She controlled hers off her ipad via a samsung app.
Seemed to respond well, but the mouse function was shit.
So I happened to have a micro keyboard with me - bluetooth.
It recognised it as a device, but didn't let it control anything - seemed to want drivers.
I even plugged my dongle into one of the usb's but again, it wanted drivers.
On my PC however the micro keyboard was just plug and play.

    Thanks to I Black Belt

Yep I use the iPad here and it works very well. Plus acts as a second portable screen (for Freesat or Freeview).

Thanks for the advice. Ordered the keyboard anyway. For £13 I will give it a go. The reviews are very good so may come in handy for other devices. From looking around there is also an Android app that I could use. Got a Motorolla Defy Mini that I can't get used to as a phone (I like my Blackberry) so I could use that I suppose. Don't like virtual keyboards though. (">

EDIT: Was writing my reply when you posted this. Will swap mine with Amazon if the one I ordered doesn't work.

theres loads of these types of keyboards all as good as each other and come with their own Bluetooth receiver so just got to have a usb slot on tv, I preferred the proper trackpad rather than the mouse stick on yours.

Also mine is remote control sort of size, your looks a bit of a beast but depends on how big your thumbs are ;-)

I don't know. you tell me. All I know is I can use my Blackberry bold 9700 keyboard no problem and my GF doesn't complain that its too small or too big when I shove it up her arse. And yes it is terrible that I bite my nails (but its more comfortable for my GF that way). (">
