Help camping in the peak district

    Guys

I'm upping my outdoor climbing training for my august climb in scotland, and spending weekends in the peak district at stanage, millstone and burbage. my knowledge of these places is limited, and the surrounding areas especially are..

However I'd like to camp for a few days with the family and the dog if poss.
just wondered if you guys could give some advice on good campsites that have quality walks nearby, your experiences really.

driving back through burbage north yesterday after bouldering just made me think, I have to spend more time out there witht e family, not just climbing training.

    any help appreciated

The campsite at the top of wasdale head was a bit basic but a great place too. Pub next to the field and sca fell and great gable next door. I vaguely remember a good one at langdale for the pikes.

That's the lake district. Peak district is further south.

    Hi,

We usually wild camp so I can't help with a campsite recommendation.

However, http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/ca...&lg=-1.9013214 is a great starting point, if the map feature doesn't work you can use a town name (Buxton, for example, and it will show the sites within xx amount of miles from here).

    Thanks to tips

Being from the area(ish) I used to frequent Edale
    See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edale

Lovely little village with a couple of very good campsites and 2 very good pubs.... in summer we would go to the pub at the top of the village... buy a pint.... walk slowly to bottom of village with pint sipping away and start over....
The pubs didnt seem to mind as I assume at the end of the day/month/year they roughly had their glasses back lol

I do remember some chap took his son camping at the southern site and was snoring like a bastard.... woke the whole site up... so we snook out and tied the bastards tent up so he couldnt get out for a piss.....
Oh did he moan in the shower block the next day... ( I think his son pissed in the tent )

    Thanks to macmilm
