    Hardware Cordless screwdriver advice.

    I need to get one ASAP.

    should i get a cheap 10-15 one of eBay? Or pay more for a branded one? If so which one?

    it will get light use, so nothing hardcore.

    i was told to look at the ryobi one from b&q for £24, but the deal is over now and it's £33.

    cheers

    I use that for bits and bats of jobs didn't pay that much for it, I wouldn't buy any of the cheap tenner jobbies mate you will end up binning it and buy a proper one.

    Thanks to Fear345

    From experience, the cheap ones have a crap battery and will eventually fall apart. They're cheap for a good reason!

    Try and stick with any of the branded stuff and you should be OK for household use.

    Do you have a decent drill?

    I have a couple of decent electric screw drivers. But I don't use them, as I use my makita drill with a screw bit, instead.

    Yeah I've read the Bosch ones are pretty much the ones to go for, but looking at the specs and stuff I can't really see why it's twice the price of the screwfix one. I've got a drill, but mains powered. I was also contemplating getting a cordless drill, but for the amount of DIY i actually do it's not really worth it. Just a basic cordless screwdriver is all I need, the screwfix one looks to be favourite ATM. As said good reviews.

    If you get one that's a solid build quality then all I'd say is drain the battery and recharge now and again, even if you don't intend to use it. I got a budget one years ago and haven't used it that much but now and again, I see it on the table and drain the battery by pressing the 'trigger' and recharging it and to this day, it's as good as new mate.

    more than you want to spend, and I suppose it is overkill if you are rarely going to use it.
    But these type of tool is in a different league, if you were considering a handy drill and driver combined.The battery is detachable and the charger and battery is interchangeable with many other tools if you needed them in the future.
    I know it's overkill, but I bought enough cheap tools in my time, to realise that buying decent to begin with, usually works out cheaper in the long run.

    Also when buying "Bosch" tools
    Blue = great (pro)
    Green= crap (diy) but cheaper.

    Well you shouldn't any more as most modern batteries are now li ion and running li ion batteries totally dead is about the worst thing you can do to them.

    I use a Bosch OXI. Had it for over 5 years and still going strong. Use it daily too...

    Not the fastest driver but reliable.

    Edit: Didn't see Fear has the same one

    My local lidl still have these in stock http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/park...9-lidl-1804210
    I bought one to use primarily as a screwdriver...I have a ryobi battery drill for meatier stuff.

    BTW I have used it and it is very good...also battery has no memory which is great so you can charge/dishcharge to your hearts content.
