Rumors point to September 3rd launch for Galaxy Note 4
If you’re waiting to see what Samsung has planned for the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 phablet, the latest rumor suggests that you’ll have to wait a few more months. According to a recent report from Android Geeks, Samsung plans to release the next iteration of its phablet on September 3rd, almost exactly a year after theSeptember 4, 2013 unveiling of the Galaxy Note III.
According to Android Geeks, this information comes via the same inside source who accurately pegged the Note III’s launch date. The source goes on to mention that Samsung will “send out the invitations to the Unpacked event sometime mid-August.”
It’s unclear if the “release date” mentioned means you’ll be able to walk into a store and buy a Note 4 on September 4th, or if Samsung merely plans to hold its launch event and possibly begin preorders on that day. As TechHive reported at the time, the Note III didn’t officially go on sale until September 25th of last year.
As for what to expect, rumored specs published by GSMArena suggest that the new Note will have a 5.7-inch 1440 by 2560-pixel screen (for 515 pixels per inch) and a 20.1-megapixel camera, and have either Exynos Hexa or Snapdragon 801 chipset innards powering the device. GSMArena points to a ruggedized, waterproof design as a possibility as well.
