I doubt anyone here has come across this situation before.
Car came in to my mates garage last month with a clutch pressure plate that had broken up and come through the side of the housing. The pressure plate and the flywheel were badly discoloured through excessive heat. I was surprised when my mate told me it was the third clutch that he had fitted to the car in six months. The woman who owns the car is 90+. It's obvious from all the dents on the car and the badly damaged wheel trims that the woman should no longer be driving. My mate has done the responsible thing by telling her nephew who looks after her.
My mate took her out in the car to try and explain where she was going wrong. What he found was that she had the throttle continuously to the floor and was slipping the clutch to control her speed. No amount of explaining worked so four weeks on the car is in for another clutch.
How the engine has survived I don't know. (">
