Kindle Fire, not charging?

Bought my nieces a Kindle fire each last Christmas, from Amazon, they both are now not charging up any more? when plugged in the light on the unit comes on to say it's charging but it never does.

Could understand one failing but find it strange that both would develop the same problem at the same time, googling the problem proved inconclusive for me so thought i would ask on here before getting on to Amazon.

So has anyone ever had this problem?

very unusual problem as it has occured to both simultaneously, sounds like a hardware issue more than anything else, if its still under warranty best to contact amazon, possibly replacements should be in order.

Cheers Tom think you're right it does look like some kind of hardware failure.
Looks like my only option is to get on to amazon.

Have you tried changing the charging adapter as my father has the same issue. He'd even tried different adapters and it looked like it was charging but wasn't. I took it home and tried my one of my phone chargers and it worked. I know I tried turning it on when plugged in. Not really sure if that helps, but it does seem strange that both Kindles should die at the same time.

i have tried a couple of different chargers and leads, but no joy, i've got some more in my garage so will try those later, cheers

kindles are known to have a problem when the battery fully discharges. You have to either keep putting the charger in and out over a period of 10 mins to kind of jump start them into charging or use a higher ampage charger (Not voltage) to charge it.

Try the following first.

• Hold down the power button for ~30 seconds
• Release and press the power button again

The charging light will light up and then it will do a reboot (all data is preserved).

Managed to get one of them going, it's charging now, the other one is still not having it though, i will persevere.
