Everyone will tell you to use Plex for this as a DNLA server on your PC which you can download for free.

I use Mezzmo which is about £15 but I find gives me a lot more security as you can whitelist the devices allowed to use it

So many options. What type of files are you trying to stream? MKV, Avi, MP4 etc? Also what spec is the PC? If it's powerful Plex and a NowTV would work as it can transcode everything.

Akimba thanks for the reply, but what I am after is a device to plug into my TV so I can receive movies through my networked pc. Livesey, it is a mixture of different file types. What it is I have a Samsung led TV in the bedroom but have no way of connecting to my network and hoped I could find something to connect to it. I have tried chromecast which was rubbish I have a now tv box but can't get I to work.

You thought about a pair of homeplugs to connect your TV to your network?

Plex Server with a NowTV or if you want a better experience, an Android MX box with Linux MX installed.

I'm using Plex clients at the moment on my Revo's, but likely to back to XBMC soon if Plex doesn't update anytime soon.

Does the Samsung TV have a dlna client on it? If so just get some homeplugs and plug your TV into your network and away you go. My 8 year old Samsung can play most things.

Plex server vanishing locally is mega annoying, almost as bad as her moaning about it!

You guys with the missing Plex don't use home plugs do you? There was a bug in some of the older firmwares for lots of devices that hosed DLNA?

I never put two and two together until it was randomly mentioned the firmware fixed DLNA and sure enough it worked ever since!

    Hi
Since I got my Plex server my popcorn hour C200 has not been used (about a year) and although brilliant it is now totally surplus to requirements.
