    Help Bees . . ..buzzzzzzzzzzzz

So I have a bee nest / hive in my outhouse and there are a shit load of bees getting in the house.

So far have just been trapping them in a glass and putting outside etc - have children around and have had a couple of stings from picking them up and stuff - whats best to do? dont really want to kill them off but also dont want to see many more stinging situations?

If I leave it until winter will they just die off? Can block off the hole into my outhouse?

Google for your local bee keeper and give them a call. They tend to come out and take them away.

I did ring the local council but they said because the hive was concealed under the eaves they wouldn't be able to do anything

Forget them. Call up a local bee keeper and ask for their advice. I know one near me in Herts comes and gets them for a small charge. (Dunno how much to be honest).

Nice one will try and get in touch with someone to sort them - wouldn't even mind having a hive in the garden just not so happy with them so close to the house and coming in all the time

My mum does some volunteer at the local council green houses. When she had some nesting in her garden they referred somebody to her.

He came, caught the queen and paid her 150 notes for it. Apparently it was some kind of rarer breed and there worth quite a bit. No doubt he'll sell it on for more.

as said above mate just ring around and you will find someone who will come out and take it away, a friend of mine had the same problem and they removed it within a couple of days, however he did have to pay, i think it was around £50 to have them come and remove it
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

I am in the exact same situation. I have quite bad pointing on our back wall with gapes here and there, and there is some kind of nest inside the roof / cavity area of my house.
It's an absolute nightmare....the bairns are scared of them, as young bairns often are, and the dog keeps trying to collect them in its mouth.
I also have a second nest on the end of my extension where they are crawling under the facia board...again this is inside the house and not visible.

I cant get near the area at he top roofline to try plugging the little holes where they are getting in and out of, as there are usually a few swarming around.

I know that there are concerns about the bee population, but as prezzy says, its a nightmare them getting in the house all the time, so I don't care if they are under threat....I have been killing as many of them as I can with Raid, then with my foot when they hit the floor. Raid doesnt seem to kill them but it does seem to stun them enough for me to finish them off.

Bee's unless you piss them off are fine, I can remember my dad had a honey suckle plant growing up the side of the house and he used to get the bee's on his finger from the plant.
Wasps however burn the bastards out nasty fuckers sting for fun.

OK so I am going to leave mine alone, kids been told not to try and pick any more up and leave them bee . . . . ahem

Tronads if they are a real problem for you wait until it is dark when they are docile / nesting then wrap up in some thick clothing socks over hands and some sort of face protection and spray raid in the hole where they are / into the hive- then run like fuck

Don't really condone killing them but needs must I guess

I did ring a local bee guy to ask what to do and he said if I can just cope with them until winter then they will die off then I can just block up the gap in my out house wall

As I can't get to the hive then he can't do anything like take them away - they are going into a hole that is around a 5 cm diameter and no access to get to them other than ripping my out house ceiling down

You sure it's not a Wasp Nest.

I'm sure we have one or two experts in this field on here.

No they don't. As with most creatures they fear man. They may be more aggressive than honey bees and more likely to choose fight over flight, but they will only sting you if they feel threatened in some way. (">
